for a team that flowed like water in terms of teamplay, its actually crazy that they never did much of anti stratting when its a staple practice for obvious reasons. Does Valorant reward cohesion more or smth because they gave off the impression of being hardcore vod reviewers but these guys only cared about their own game. It makes sense now when I think about it ngl bc they would force teams to play to their own rhythm like how PRX would switch up their playstyle to match EG in their matches.

Is Chet outdated???

Isn’t forcing ur team to act out the exact same play style and use the exact same strats as another team so that your main team can get used to them and counter them the exact same thing as anti-stratting?

I’m not saying ethan is wrong, I’m just saying that they heavily relied on their sub team to “pose” as an enemy team, simulating the opponents strats and playstyle so that the main team can get used to them and therefore counter them, which is basically the same as anti stratting.

What I’m ultimately getting at is that they DID antistrat just maybe not in a traditional way

They had a 10man roster. The reserve team would constantly imitate certain strats that they saw other teams use in previous matches(both commonly used and special ones as well) and drill those strats literally dozens of time in a row against the main EG team to help prep for upcoming opponents.

So, it basically is anti-strating but not primarily in the form of discussion, which is what most players think when they hear anti-strating.

Is there a source or is it speculation based on them having a 10 man roster?

ahhh yeah, thats weird that ethan would say that then. however, its still vague. they don't say they were running the comps of other teams just "drills."

i think ethan just meant that they didn't antistrat in a super typical way, coming into the game with set plays to counter your opponent. all the antistratting was drilled in prac, and honestly the really fluid style they had also lends itself well to on the fly adaptation, so maybe ethan wasn't aware that stuff boostio was calling maybe had the enemy team's plays in mind.

Not speculation. Several members have talked about it in interviews/press conferences during VCT in 2023 or on their personal streams.

Here's a Youtube short with boostio talking about it: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/1Nu7RGkuFxc
And the full video it's from, short is from ~33mins in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwNxZ5IBKww
