Don't buy any cigarettes. Hard to smoke without them.

Reduce the amount youre smoking little by little so your mind can adjust, but its just an idea. Another helpful idea might be therapy, yes it sounds bad, but it isnt, its okay to get yourself some help if youre feeling too weak to sort things out by yourself. Be open-minded and honest, its not like the therapist will say ,,OMG youre smoking???Get out of my office!!". Talking to friends or family about this will help too, im sure they will be supportive, theyre close to you for a reason. GL on your future journey!!

I understand your issue very well, being a part of the group is cool and nice since you have people around you that you like. I do think though that they probably wont really mind if you wont smoke with them, try to decline in a friendly way if they offer you cigarettes with a small explanation if they wonder. I also had friends back at school who smoked frequently, but they were completely fine for me not smoking with them. They were still very kind to me and accepted me the way i was. Its likely they are the same, just young people enjoying their break between sessions with people they know.
Also, if you buy cigarettes before uni, try to avoid the place where you buy them. Maybe youre connecting the place because you get yourself some food for the lunch break. Maybe go to a bakery or a cafe if its close to you.
Its okay to smoke, but the amount needs to be controllable. I had a case where someone died because of that. Remind yourself to not overdue it, set yourself a limit you wont exceed and stop once you reached it.
GL on your journey :)

I mean you literally need to just not do it, there is no other way to prevent it, it's a mental thing

tell me how to control the urge and get distracted

Stop or reduce the time spent on online games; games often make people more anxious, especially those that require concentration.
My suggestion is to invest your free time watching a TV series.

From my personal experience it may help.

Chew gums instead, it works for me. Now I'm 6 months smoke-free and still going strong

Honestly I was a huge smoker! Used to smoke atleast a pack a day.

One day my mom’s health started deteriorating and she was hospitalized. She said One thing to me, that made me quit smoking was, if I get sick I have you, to take care of me but If you get sick I am in no shape to help you out. So please take care of yourself. I started gym and started eating healthy

It’s been 8 months and I haven’t touched a cigarette. Hopefully I won’t relapse. It’s all about Mindset
