How to cope with death of your pet?

My dog (10) just recently started to lose appetite, has trouble getting up, moving really slow, doesn't come to the front door when I arrive home, and became really weak. I've been telling my parents that this is an emergency and we should take her to the vet now but the closest appointment is 3 weeks away. I know that I shouldn't give up on my dog but I want to prepare for the worst while hoping for the best. I want to know if anyone else has experienced a passing of their beloved pet and how they coped.

I cried hard, then over time I stopped crying. Then I cried more when I thought about him. It was sad but life moves on and you just have to hold on to those memories, moments, and remember them. The happy times, even the bad times, they're all a part of you and will be as long as you remember

Might be bad advice since I think I process grief weirdly but that's all the advice I can give. May not work for you and if that happens then I'm sorry.

I don’t have any pets but I’m sorry to hear about your situation. Spend as much time with them as possible.

It might take months or maybe even years to cope up with it. But cherish your memorable moments and always believe that he/she was happy by your side

One way to cope with it is to adopt a new pet and care for it. Best coping mechanism period

enjoy the time you have left, cherish the moments you have right now

sucks to lose pets and I have lost a few in my life but time fixes all wounds, might take a lot of time or it might be a short time

just remember the happy moments you had with your pets and know you did your best to make them have happy life, much love <3

Sadly the sadness of it never fully goes away but life still moves on. When your heart breaks just let it break, you’ll make it through in the end

my parents chose not to have her spayed so she would have periods on the regular. She stopped having periods because her uterus became a "closed pyometra" tldr, she wasnt able to release her discharge so her uterus became bigger and bigger and if not treated her uterus would burst. (her actual weight before was around 2.7kg but her uterus itself became around 1kg)
