Leo faria is right.

Sure, you guys may cry and pretend like you give a f about the tier 2 scene
Here's the reality: SEN vs 100t round 1 of LCQ had more viewership than the entire ascension tournament combined jfl

Viewership = sponsors = money = more orgs = more opportunity for aspiring players = better ecosystem

There is no viewership in tier 2 simply because nobody cares about it (even tho you guys pretend like you do)

It's simply unsustainable
Obviously it's important, but it can't be artificially built by riot since there is no engagement

It's like people complaining about female soccer players making less money than Male athletes. Everyone pretend they care

Do they watch their games, follow on social media and purchase stuff?
No

yeah but just because we dont watch it doesnt mean we dont care about the players, they rightfully won their spot- they were the ones that did the playing, not the org, they deserve the spot, NOT the org.

That's undeniable true, my point is about the people that got mad when leo faria said their focus will always be tier 1
It's what pays the bills unfortunately

how can CS have contracts for tier 4 players on a team ranked #150 in the world but Valorant cant even manage to pay more than top 25 players in a region??

Riot is run by corporate idiots with 0 experience in TAC FPS

they hired CS devs to make the game, then used a bunch of nepobabies to run it

a healthy tier2 ecosystem allows for the cultivation of talent, a greater investment by the community, and an overall more robust esport

I agree, just let third party tournament organizers take over and hold a riot based tournament every year (major)
They can quite literally copy a successful bussiness plan which valve already built but they wanna be different lol

we arent mad they focus on tier 1 its obvious that they will make t1 the priority, the issue is they BLATANTLY stated they dont care at all about tier 2 and they wont focus on it being sustainable at all.

You misunderstood.

This post was about the Tier 2 scene, NOT about TGRD losing the spot after leaving.
What he means is that nobody here likes watching Tier 2 despite them saying that they care about it.

Players won't get paid by your care

Nah, that's cuz tarik missed a few acension games. Viewership is still high in tier 2 cuz of co-streamers, it's just that many of the teams at the ascension tournament aren't as clouted as like dsg or mxm.

Also even if we don't care as much for tier 2, it's still a massive showcase for upcoming talent that will thrive in the franchising leagues

You’re right people shouldn’t be getting outraged by something they know nothing about nor support. Leo Faria was absolutely right but people especially ones on social media would rather hear sugar coated truth than direct truth which is why I think people don’t like the wording he used

i personally watched ascension more than lcq on most regions just bc the storylines were more interesting and the matches were closer and could go either way

so tier 2 teams or players need to create some drama for attention therefore = viewership
