It must've not been worth to sign for The guard to continue their esports division.
The kroenke's have been slowly removing their esports staff and teams.
If the riot agreement did not provide enough revenue or required extra spending its likely The Guard wouldn't want to sign.
It's likely that The Guard wouldn't have gotten an esports skin and less financial incentives compared to the original partner teams.
It really sucks for the players and this will truly have a terrible knock-on effect to other teams and players in North America in particular.
I still think a better solution could've been found. The off season is long there would've been time.
