I didn't follow valorant that closely in 2021/2022

So after optic didn't get francising, NRG bought optics core roster? By this I mean fns, victor, crashies, and chet

Why didn't NRG also pick up yay and marved? They got s0m and ardiis instead, what were the community sentiment around that decision then?

At that point, was s0m good? what about ardiis?

marved wanted to take a break and yay's buyout was too high .. the team already knew during pre franchise that yay couldnt come with them.. s0m was above average duelist that time he had some moments.
that time chamber was meta and ardiis was popping off.. they were interested in sayf or ardiis and went with ardiis cuz he was proven chamber

Was yay willing to lower his salary to play with NRG? Or did optic just set the payout too high?

Given how I keep seeing yay wants to play pro (ex. DSG), who screwed over who, optic or yay?

Yay wanted more money, no one screwed anyone over Yay was worth over $1 million he wasnt gonna lower that just to play with his old team

To be clear, it was optic forcing teams to buyout yay at a high price, not yay himself iirc

idk how true it is but FNS said something among the lines of he did not really want to travel too much anymore and stay home.

pretty sure he wanted to be close to family and something about going back to school

i think marved just wanted a break. he also went to sen after lockin so really late as a 6th man not expecting to play. He was forced to tho bc of all their drama

marved didnt want to retire .. he just wanted an indefinite break from pro play... there's no way he was willing to retire after winning a masters and runners up at champs

so they couldnt get yay bc he costed way too much. marved retired but signed as a 6th man for sen like at right after lockin and was forced to play for them. s0m was a duelist for nrg b4 they got the optic core so no one really knew he would b this good at controller. ardiss pick was good but most ppl recognized it as a downgrade from yay

yay was too expensive so C9 got him only to fu*k him up real bad in 2023 and now he has no buyout
marved took a break only to realize that break wasn't a good idea so he was signed to SEN after the sick incident
chances of yay joining NRG back are very slim because of his performance in 2023 as a whole and SEN wouldn't let go of marved for now, different story depending on how 2024 goes

what happened with c9 and yay, how bad did they do? I guessing the chemistry just wasn't there?

they were honestly just mid. c9 were outta money that’s the only reason he got dropped, otherwise who knows what would’ve happened

They were not good but given how new the team was it was kinda expected. They could have worked if they wanted to but C9 wanted to cut costs because yay was THE played back then. Vanity would still have to go though because he wasn't really good for the team

Not enough budget, Yay buyout was high

Also Marved initially didn't want to compete cause he's taking a break
