All they had to do to qualify was get through FPX and BDS. That was basically their toughest opposition in qualis. FPX really under-performed in that series, ScreaM activated and in BDS series, it was just a close brawl, except for the last map. Then Liquid got a free opponent in the semis(Oxygen) and got through.
IMO they probably would've lost vs Gambit, if they faced them in semis instead, but we'll never know that.

they only win vs fpx cuz liquid changed full comp vs fpx like they had no idea about it

Man I still can't forget that L1NK 1v4 on Bind B when it was 11-10 BDS... That round could have changed the entire history.
