OXG & TSM | who gets 4th seed?

So OXG & TSM both have 13 points right now, TSM was leading OXG before MSI and had 13, but OXG went from 10 --> 13 after their 4th-place finish at the invitational.

who gets 4th seed then?

well, the rulebook states

The twelve (12) competing in Challengers will be re-seeded into three draw
groups (Pot A, B, C) for Split 2 by the metrics below:

  1. Pot A will be the 1st-4th place teams based on Challenger Points
    from Split 1 and the Mid-Season Face-Off.
  2. Pot B will be the 5th-8th place teams based on Challenger Points
    from Split 1 and the Mid-Season Face-Off.
  3. Pot C will be the 9th-12th place teams based on Challenger Points
    from Split 1 and the Mid-Season Face-Off.
but, they have the same amount of challenger points ;w; and the difference between 4th and 5th seems pretty important

IE, you won't get matched with more than one team in your Pot until they hit the 3-team max of the same teams being in the same group, which won't happen most likely until Pot B, meaning if OXG gets to be 4th seed, they are guaranteed only having G2, or TGRD, or M80, only one of these three most likely, if I understand correctly.

-- my theory --

Honestly, p sure OXG will get the 4th seed because of a stronger performance recently, plus the fact that TSM only had three rounds on them coming into the MSI in terms of round differential. Accounting for MSI performance means that OXG has a -7 (-3 if you count split 1) round differential adding up all the MSI games, and TSM has a -9 (-5 if you count split 1) round differential.

They even beat them in an H2H during MSI, so pretty sure OXG should get 4th seed when seeds are re-configured for split 2, putting TSM into the less favorable Pot B. No other ties exist, so seeding otherwise should be pretty self-explanatory; this was just the singular variable (^._.^)~

TLDR: OXG should get 4th seed because of better round differential and the skuba+verno diff in their H2H game for 4th which matters because they get put into Pot A and avoid more of the scawy top 3 teams of G2, TGRD and M80.

\\ btdubs if u wanna know what these ''pots'' will look like for split 2 then, check this thread :3c ///

is this tiebreaker not applicable?

In the event of a tie in either Split 1 or Split 2 point standings, the order of tiebreakers to determine the final Split standings are as follows:
● Match Win/Loss Record
● Round Differential

so yes you are right

that's different, that's how points would be determined for standings after each respective split to hand out THOSE points

re-seeding for split 2 needs to take into account MSI performance and those points awarded so the re-seeding is explained in a different part of the rulebook which I referenced above, that is what's applicable.

unless they're hella dumb idk how they would just throw MSI that out the window, ykwim?

OXG DO BETTER, TSM TAKE COMMON L FOR TEAM SOLO MID, KEKW,

SO OXGYEN ONLY HAVE TO FACE ONE OF m80, goard, or gold 2, while TSM prob have to face moar of them, oh nyo scary, harder group, group of death!!

4>5
