Valorant in Japan is very popular with them most likely being the second or third most populated server, and most of the time, competition in a server is determined by the playerbase. So how have they had such disappointing results with them most likely not making it to master or even champions this year? is it because they are new to esports? team management? how has Japan been consistenly shit for 3 whole years(beside the one tbh fluke event)?

Japan just started to learn that PC gaming is a thing recently, give them time. Before Valo Apex was the first big FPS esports and a lot of the players use controller 💀

My Japanese friend says it is ridiculous for a Japanese person to become a pro player in fps because they can't make money. Also, since academic background is important in Japan, teenagers who play games are said to be throwing away their future. So much so, it seems, that academic ability is necessary to secure a future in Japan.

That's definitely a factor too, but Korea also has the same culture but we know how good they're. Japan also has a lot of FGC players. They just very late in terms of PC gaming, Valo is probably then first big PC esports (Apex is big but a big chunk of the players use controller lol).

In OW and R6S, Japan seemed to be fighting the good fight. For example, dep, ta1yo, samurai, wokka, gatorada are players I know.
Are there as few players as they are?

Market's like Japan and India are very new for gaming especially PC people just say shit when we lose but they dont see we dont get to play enough and when u play against good t1 teams we will lose cuz of inexperience that is the deciding factor b/w these teams and world class teams
