They can't exactly counter-pick the other team at the moment, they have to pick a comp they want to play with and then go from there. To be fair they didn't mirror match on icebox

i mean thats a valid point.
its not great for the viewers though.
but wouldnt playing a more unique comp also have the benefits of being harder to counter due to the lack of information?

The problem is to do that you might have to forego an agent who is extremely valuable on a map in favor of a more one-dimensional agent. There are good reasons they pick who they do and it's better to be solid when you play a team for the first time and then go for more unique comps. It's not awful for viewership but doing a single elim style tournament definitely is.
