KR SLOTS FROM A KR FAN

As many regular users may know, I'm a big advocate for Asia Pride.

5 slots is objectively a huge W. We're probably the only region that has made major exports to other major regions (Sayaplayer and Xeta to NA, Munchkin, Medusa, Meteor, Allow, Foxy9, Suggest, HSK, JoXJo, Hate, Bazzi, iNTRO, Seoldam, Astell, and more to JP)

However, I can't help but feel that 5 slots is too much. We definitely have the potential to field more than one good team. We know DRX playerwise is not a superteam; MaKo was not the best controller player in KR when he was picked up - he was a Jett player at first. BuZz used to play Sentinel and Omen for Rio Company.
Don't forget that we have achieved a podium finish 2 years in a row with 2 different rosters.

But to take away important slots from SEA, and especially JAPAN, which has lowkey carried the viewership side of Valorant in Asia, feels like betrayal.

Even EMEA could not have 5 teams capable of contending for a trophy. There were max 3-4 EMEA teams that could realistically win a Masters at any one point in time (4/4 EMEA teams in playoffs at Champs 2021)

Definitely the most out of any region we've seen so far, but this goes to show it's absurd to get 5 slots. The historically strongest Valorant region (not only region, but several different regions - EMEA is more than 1 continent) probably couldn't have 5 title contending teams.

I lowkey feel we don't deserve it. 3 teams is the best possible outcome for us. 4 would be a dream. 5 is lunacy.

Also That list probably shows 5 teams which are in the running for the spots not orgs which are already in but if somehow 5KR orgs make it then it'll actually be so sad

It will be a loss for asia to have korea field 5 slots considering that it's a single country but won't be surprised if this pushed through

KR orgs not gonna keep more than 2 or 3 sea/APAC players even if they decide to have mix roster which is doubtful in the first place. Also there will be a very big language problem with that roster

Korean orgs realistically look for domestic players. The LCK for example has almost never imported a foreign player. In Overwatch, KR teams have never imported foreign players.

Only in games where KR has little to no talentbase will KR orgs field mixed or imported rosters, but with Valorant's rise in popularity that seems dubious.

Thing is with these korean orgs, with the ability to field foreign players, is that they probably would not.

"Some of the league candidates have also been said to shift their focus on the country they will base their roster from, with one of the LCK orgs being rumored to lean towards a Japanese roster. Talon Esports and Global Esports are also said to keep their APAC core, but may become multi-regional rosters. "

1 of 5 korean orgs.
leaning towards.

Like I said - it's not impossible but very unlikely.

1 that is rumored about, likely more. Just take a look at the ranking section of vlr, there are barely 5 teams there. They simply won't be able to field multiple good rosters, it doesn't make sense from a competitive perspective nor from a fanbase/viewership perspective. Korea was always good in LoL and Overwatch, meanwhile in Valorant there is DRX and then... https://www.vlr.gg/event/1083/champions-tour-east-asia-last-chance-qualifier/main-event
I'm sure it's gonna be more than likely, Riot is probably just looking at those KR orgs since most of the other orgs are not as good financially or aren't close to rito

it's possible.
As for VLR rankings, those don't mean SQUAT.
Don't forget the number of Korean talent in Japan.
Look at Utage. F/A Import roster Team Medusa won that tournament.

Doesn't matter, once they get the slots they can do whatever they want
