tbf I am not really talking about 1st generation inmigrants, those I respect but saying a lot are bilingual is delusional, most inmigrants cant even speak their parents mother tongue and just adopt english, those who can they speak it like crap, thats my experience with my american cousins and others I know

As a 2nd generation Indian, I'd say you're wrong. At least in my experience most of us grew up speaking our native language at home. I'd say this is common for Asian countries, much less so for European. Also like half the country speaks Spanish.

I can speak spanish and no, not half the country speaks spanish, even some first generation mexicans I have talked to speak it like toddlers, also your instituions say its 20% of american who can speak more than 1 language so impossible 50% of america can speak spanish

Alr yea i was wrong abt the spanish thing.

13% of America speaks Spanish.

23% of America is Bilingual.

I still don't like the generalization though. if 23% are bilingual, more than 1/5 close to 1/4 of every American you talk are bilingual.
