I see you guys complaining about viewership and u guys wanna know why?
ITs because NA isn't playing rn
mattgg2015 [#3]its because people lost interest in LANs and the game relies too much on watch parties which it should never have done
Bad take, that's literally the future of everything. Soon we will see it with real sports matches, people don't want to watch the boring stream when they can watch it with a personality they enjoy

its not organic growth of the scene to always have watch parties, it definitely is better for the scene if the main channel has 130k viewers instead of 30k viewers with a 100k tarik watchparty

People like Tarik watching the game gives new viewers the idea to actually play the game. That's the organic growth Valorant wants. More players > more viewers > more players > more viewers

The problem is that if Tarik for whatever reason doesnt costream a tournament, then his 50-60k viewers dont all go to the main stream. maybe only like 20k. Thats cuz people either rely on him to costream in order to be entertained by the tournament or like tarik's personality but doesnt care enough about the game

the co-streams give such a huge viewer boost to streamers that even if tarik doesn't co-stream for once someone else will absorb that viewership, people like kyedae, tenz, subroza, sinatraa, shroud, pokimane etc.

I see your point kinda, but its still better then no co streams for growth of the game and viewership. And also official co-streams get paid by Riot i thought, so that kinda give another incentives to not skip it

riot does not pay shit to the co-streams

Exactly, short term it works but long term, it’s not good for the growth of the game.

Yep. Watch parties only mask VALORANT's problem with production, talent and presentation. Think about what would happen if Riot decided to stop the watch parties. Would all the people who view a watch party switch to viewing the main stream? Probably not, because a large portion of them wouldn't be interested anymore. Therein lies the long-term problem. The game isn't entertaining enough on the main stream to attract viewers, so Riot needs to co-op with popular streamers to increase viewership. You don't see major sports doing this, because their broadcast rights are monopolized by large, reliable corporations who have invested in entertaining, informative broadcasts fit for all audiences (ex. NBA on TNT). Riot has the resources to go the same way, and they probably will once franchising is in place.
