why is there many french people in canada? what happened?
France used to own large parts of Canada, so a lot of places, especially in places like Quebec, still have a lot of French influence (Architecture, language, food, etc.)

French-canadian refers to Canadians from the French-speaking or French-influenced parts of Canada, but Docta is completely right

by the years 1500, france was the first country in NA. they first started by Gaspé but they just dropped and they went back not long after. Then, Québec was formed and it was the first city there. England always hated the french and they wanted really badly that huge piece of land. One day, the french army didnt sent enough soldier and the english won the most important battle. Since then, french people received a lot of racism and the english wanted them (us) to like... die slowly (yeah idk how to say it) but we didnt let them do that and that's why we almost split from canada too. Yeah tought life for our ancestor and now there are some bitches that are all screwing this up
