basically, 8 teams are put into 4 groups each at random (so there are 32 teams in total). During group stage, only 4 teams go forward, upper final winner and loser get 1st and 2nd seed respectively. There is a losers bracket for groups, winner of losers bracket gets 3rd seed. Also a last chance bracket, winner of last chance gets 4th seed for playoffs. If you have a better seed, you start higher up into the playoffs, so first seeds start in the quarterfinals while 4th seed play from the beginning. If you lose you are out in playoffs, no second chances
