I really think the worst region is EMEA but seeing how people are still defending EMEA a bit, CN might still be far from being a better region than EMEA

They both currently are a 1 team region, fanatic and edg carried them no one else from those regions won any trophy in franchising
yeah but u dont need to a win trophy for your region to be good. Last year heretics was prob the 3rd or 2nd best team and yet they didnt win any trophies
off season tournaments still count?
wolves won 2 trophies, xlg won 1.

yes i know, teams are saving strats but after all, its still tier 1 teams lmao.
You can trust xlg imo. They are closer to kickoff edg with two crazy good players to build around.
Wait for champs then.EDg gonna comeback. And xlg gonna find better player. kinda unlucky & quite difficult to find player for english comms team.
edg xlg blg nova/trace in champs.
I see kickoff th in nova. Its better to jump on bandwagon now. NO point after they gonna explode like xlg.
Trace is just there coz feng & kai are back & tejo meta is over.
Nah they just need more time
Their players are good enough to go against international teams but it boils down to fundamentals and I think that’s where most CN teams lack
compare the fundamentals from split 2 last year to now. It's night and day
once the coaching staff who actually know wtf they're doing solidify in tier 1 and get their systems more bolted down we'll see more noticeable improvements
I mean, a very good example of this is bail of BLG, as well as hvoya of XLG. Foreign coaches like these who have a more varied history in Valorant alongside with Chinese talent displays what it takes for the region to thrive considering its short official history. Of course, there are some exceptional Chinese coaches like Muggle, AfteR, and arguably speaking 24k amongst a few others.
Emea is worst region and you know how people are hypocrite about asia in general. You see their so called superteam couldn't even qualify
tbh i wished for vlt and kc to be successful, champs Paris is going to be mid without any french teams, they got some rabid fans it would have been unreal
The improvements CN has made since 2024 alone is incomparable tbh. The floor's much higher all around with some major exceptions (everyone knows who). Everyone's too caught up on sizing the other cn teams up with EDG as the measuring stick and ignoring the large collection of little things that the middle-pack and other high-level domestic teams have accomplished
really good insight, I honestly think they need to be more competitive too
Why would they need pacific level of domestic competitiveness??
EMEA's domestic competitiveness is very weak atm with fnc and heretics always being the top 2 teams and yet in china we have seen a lot of fluctuations between 2-4th last year and even the best CN team this year with EDG not even making top 3 in their own region.
I would say CN already has more domestic competitiveness than EMEA and almost the same as Pacific atm.
R u more talking about a few years of sustained high domestic competitiveness?
Yup Tec made it to ewc by beating wolves. TEc is slowly building good team.
Domestic level of competitiveness means they have multiple strong teams for internationals. In reality a lot of the Chinese teams are very inexperienced at international stage. Lysoar have international experience but his omen performance vs SEN was horrible. Pacific has PRX/GenG/RRQ/DRX/T1/Boom super competitiveness at domestic level. PRX 13-1 TH and GenG 13-1 MIBR. CN needs this level of convincingness to easily say that CN better than EMEA.
so your point is that you think more CN teams need to make internationals for the experience of going to one?
Chichoo said this before in content/interview:
EDG is in a very lucky position because we've been to many international event, practicing against international teams during our travel, and those international practice/matches help them to grow as a player.
Remember Pre partnership ZETA? When JP had international slot when they go overseas they get blacklisted by MANY teams after practice which I would say to this day hindered the JP growth.
TLDR; facing international teams is important for player's development.
I agree but this isnt the determining factor that will lead CN teams to becoming better, otherwise we would see 0 new teams even make internationals and yet we already have so many new teams that have played so amazingly such as Heretics, EG, G2, Geng (2023 and 2024).
I would agree that facing international teams will help players grow but I don't think its nearly as important as you make it out to be.
The determining factor would be breakthroughs. EDG accomplished this when during masters Tokyo. Step 1 for other CN teams would be beating EDG in VCT CN, Step 2 would be making a run at internationals similar to EDG. That benefit both the upcoming CN team and make eye opening performance for international people.
When BLG won against TL, ardiis acknowledge whzy passion celebration on that sunset win and 2nd guessing whether he doubting CN teams. Winning 13-1 would be a better convincing way to do it like the 2 pacific team rn. These are positive forward steps to achieve it.

That’s shocking lol, I thought he would call it a fraudulent win because liquid had a sub and the game was super close
Ardiis jokes a lot, but the whzy winning sunset moment is one of those moment u can't ignore. Whzy expression shows it.
You are just describing what it would look like for CN teams to be successful internationally but the focus of this discussion was on how CN teams will become more internationally competitive.
The only way your describing how CN will become successful internationally is your description of "breakthroughs" but how will they achieve "breakthroughs"? Like my original post I would argue that simply attending more internationals isn't enough for teams to have "breakthroughs".
For each team would be different, pick up better player (roster upgrade), consistency, map pool, pick up international wins, make deep run, beat a rival international team etc.
changing representative every tournament hurts a region. china needs a 2nd representative thats experienced the same thing like EDG. after tons of international loss they finally learnt from their loss and can be actually a contender. look at EMEA changing representative almost every tournament and they have never been the same since peak fnatic year
FPX tried, but didn't get their breakthrough. Keep running into walls with close games vs TH.
breakthrough will happen eventually all they need is consistently qualify for masters, new teams will just bring new experience. im hoping BLG can be more consistent to qualify cause they're the closest to experience what EDG did
I agree with this.
CN, domestically, is pushing into a phase where they're not as top heavy as before with the likes of EDG, BLG, Trace, even FPX. The mid-tier teams even Ascension teams are developing at an immense rate, and it shows even during the regular season and playoffs.
More teams getting exposure at the international stage? More unproven and less developed pressure as a result, and that's okay. After all, people outside of the circle only ever known those four teams more than the rest due to their performances.
When we still have the JDGs and TYLOOs and the All Gamers of CN still somehow stumbling and bumbling their way in the domestic leagues, we have DRG, NOVA, and TEC (who just qualified to EWC by the way) that's starting to show their form and showing their mettle to the old top dogs of CN.
So to answer your question: Will they be eternally the weakest region? No, as long as the trends keep going, we've seen how CN teams can develop, like any other region.
EMEA still has Fnatic
liquid failed cuz nats is absent
ch0na has become a 0 team region after edg's absence in toronto
just watch those teams, each team retains one or two lysoars in their rosters
