Valorant's most prestigious tournament of the year begins Wednesday, August 31. Sixteen teams from around the world have battled through their respective regional VCT circuits to earn their spot on the international stage in the culmination of the 2022 VCT tournament circuit.

Competition is as fierce as ever, but only one team can win it all to be crowned Valorant 2022 Champions. VLR.gg has compiled everything that you need to know about what's to come in the 19-day competition, starting with the Group Stage of the event.

Format

The 16 teams competing will participate in a GSL group stage format, where the teams will be divided into four groups—A, B, C, and D respectively—of four teams. The groups are as follows:

Group A

Group B

Group C

Group D

The top two teams from each group will advance to the eight-team playoff stage, where they'll play in a double elimination bracket to determine who will hoist the Valorant Champions trophy. Each match in the group stage will be Bo3.

Prize Pool

While Riot has not yet announced the prize pool for the event, 50% of net proceeds from the Champions 2022 Skin Collection will be distributed to participating teams.

Broadcast

Champions Broadcast Drops are back this year, which means that you can earn in-game rewards from watching official streams. If you connect your Valorant account with your Twitch or YouTube account, you may be rewarded in-game with a Champions-exclusive title, spray and player card.

The player title can be earned by watching a live game from August 31 to September 13, and the VCT spray by catching the streams on September 16-17. As for the VCT player card, this can be earned during the finals on September 18.
