Their exciting because their a team most people have never heard of from a region that has dominated other esports. They beat northeption and swept onslayers and the opportunity to scrim eu teams will be a massive benefit. I dont think they have a chance of winning but their definitely a dark horse to go deep

EDG are basically the ZETA of Champions. People are excited to see them play, they're cracked and they're from a region that has yet to prove themselves on the international stage, plus I don't think anyone will be able to prepare for how they play. That, plus ZmjjKK >>>SkMidssi and they're a team everyone expects to do good.

Gotta be honest tho, i think many viewers hoped that GE do what EDG did. Especially in FPS where CN and India hasn’t prove anything much but they were going strong in their own region and went to the LCQ where they need to prove themselves against other more established region. EDG showed up but on the other hand GE didn’t (well they did win against DWG for 1 series but flopped against PRX)

No one was excited to watch Zeta, but they surprised everyone and then people started appreciating them.
With EDG is different, we've never seen a chinese team playing an international tournament so that's why everyone wants to watch them

Clean sweeping the entirety of JP/KR.
Personally I wouldn't rate them any higher than LOUD or DRX.
Excited for a good Champions as always.

i watched some of their match and i understand why people rated them high. i dont think people should claim they are the best in the world tho just in case they are "onliners"

Yea but the teams except northeption were tier 99. No hate tho i think they will do good in champs

stupid logic

the regions performance internationally gives us an idea of the region strength, then teams performance in those regions also gives us some idea of team strength

no offense but ONS took down NTH bro, ONS should be rated higher than NTH since they've just started practicing for 2 weeks and still beat them.

zeta is very close to them, so zeta is tier 99 too?

just because a team didnt go to international doesnt mean theyre bad

by your shit stupid logic faze, navi, nrg are tier 99 because they didnt go to an international xd

They have a GREAT trade strats/timing and REALLY GOOD multi-utility plays that make them have kinda of 95% sure of getting kills

Their playstyle is what makes them super interesting and what has caught the eye of alot of people. Also due to the fact that they didnt drop a single map or series in LCQ. I just worry with all the noise they've made teams playing them will anti-strat the shit out of them. I also worry about some of their team comps on maps especially the double duelist comps. I worry they'll run into an EU team that will work them, but lets see, I have high hopes.

PRX seems to be EMEAs kryptonite outside of FPX so we will see

Very true, although I will say I dont think GUILD we're a great representation of EMEA, they looked decent in EMEA quals but once they came to Masters they looked terrible. Even in the recent EMEA LCQ they looked awful, I knew they were never making it out of LCQ.

I wouldn't go as far as to say they looked terrible in Masters after making top 2 and losing to both the grand finalists in close matches

I dont think losing 13-4 on Ascent to PRX was close. I think the Fracture game was alot closer but again, they couldnt close it out or push it to a map3.

The FPX game was a 3 map series and the only close map was Ascent. The other 2 maps were 13-3 GUILD's way & 13-4 FPX's way. I wouldnt say that was a close series at all...

You don't think 2 blowouts for both teams and 1 close map is a decently close series?

#32

No, be alot different if scores were like
11-13 Ascent FPX
10-13 Breeze GUILD
12-14 Bind FPX
I'd say the series itself was just a blow out after map1

They are really good with the trades & covering each other.

In my own opinion: Don't expect them to win Champions. Not in their first year. However, they are really, really, entertaining. Their playstyle is disruptive. Controlled aggression like how PRX does it, but they infused it with some top-notch Chinese aggression. They tend to overheat and throw rounds but their mental fortitude is strong (literally their closest call was a 21-19 win in a 9-0 tournament streak.) APAC teams usually scrimmed against them, and APAC teams speak highly of them. They have a reason to be feared, and literally if you don't respect EDG, they'll run you over.

100% agree, keen to see these guys play against EMEA teams and see how EMEA reacts to their playstyle. I know it's very similar to PRX but it seems ALOT more aggressive and with alot of flair. Watching zmjkk just getting multi frags after multi frags is awesome to watch. Definitely a team to watch come Champs.

EMEA won’t respect EDG and still steamroll them GIGACHAD

The only thing I worry for EDG is the overheating getting punished. EMEA teams are notorious for punishing over-extending plays.

fantastic fundamentals 90% of the time but 10% absolute individual inting (zmjkk is generally the culprit) that sometimes works

very mechanic-intensive playstyle that is generally utility deficient, they rely on taking 1v1 duels to get into sites often. The players are all incredible shots, so they will win a lot of these duels. on defence you'll see them push extremities and main lanes very often to force the enemy team react (and often make mistakes) or take duels which is their forte. interestingly, there's often more utility here than on their retakes or execs.

imo they feel like a Masters 3 Gambit that plays PRX-style-esque comps.
