T1's Summit pick came as a surprise. The Korean organization had yet to play the map throughout VCT 26: Pacific Stage 2. On the other side, 100 Thieves responded with a composition change, replacing

coined during their VCT 26: Americas Stage 2 run.
100 Thieves captured the pistol round on Summit, leading to a quick 3-0 start after winning the bonus round. T1 battled back with heroics from iZu in an overwhelmingly fast A-site hit, responding with a thrifty win.
The first-seeded Americas team used the economy built from the previous three rounds to respond with two of their own, but Meteor and Munchkin had enough. The pair combined for 26 kills in the first half, earning T1 six straight round wins and a 7-5 halftime lead.
Meteor takes down all five 100 Thieves players.100 Thieves worked a slow default before Asuna found a pick on Meteor , which the Thieves followed up with an antieco win. T1 claimed the third round, but that was the last round they won. 100 Thieves' slow default playstyle outsmarted T1, leading to a 13-8 win on T1's map pick.
T1's Sage and Chamber composition carried over to Ascent, where the Koreans opened map two by claiming their first pistol round of the series and a quick 2-0 start. 100 Thieves countered with a third-round win, but T1 finally looked comfortable on the Champions stage, quickly forming a 4-1 lead as BuZz and Meteor combined for 13 kills.
But once 100 Thieves locked in their default, they didn't look back. Cryocells and Asuna handled T1 to finish the half with a 7-5 scoreline.
In the pistol round, T1 failed to clear wine on their A-site hit. Cryocells took advantage, eliminating iZu and Munchkin . The remaining Thieves players on A-site cleaned up the pistol to take the first two rounds of the second half.
iZu saves T1 from a thrifty disaster on AscentT1 found a glimmer of hope by taking control of B-site and winning the next four rounds. Following T1's run, 100 Thieves called a well-timed timeout and reset. After the break, the North American organization responded with four straight rounds of their own behind a Asuna 3K, a Timotino Operator 3K, a stalwart B hold, and a clinical bang 4K. The run settled the series, sending 100 Thieves to the Group A winner's match with a 13-9 win.
Cryocells dominated T1, leading the server with a 1.52 rating and 45/23/6 KDA.
From the Press Room
100T Nbs on the Summit comp: "We got manhandled by LOUD, so we just took their comp and added a little twist of our own with Harbor. I'm happy that it worked. We were expecting T1 to play the composition that they did, so we were super ready."
T1 KDG on picking Summit: "When we were practicing the Sage and Chamber on Summit, we thought it was one of our strongest maps. When it comes to 100 Thieves, they've been playing Phoenix on every map throughout Stage 2. Summit is kind of like Lotus where it's hard to get value out of the Phoenix. It was a pick that considered what we were really strong at and what 100 Thieves would be lacking at."
100T Asuna on Americas being undefeated at Champions: "The biggest reason Americas is so good is we're playing against amazing teams. We have the South American league combined with us, so there's a lot more talent than usual. As a result, we have amazing practice and we even import the best players from all the regions. We have coaches who've been coaching for years with their own titles under their belts."
T1 Meteor on expectations for the rest of the tournament: "Of course our expectations for Champions is winning it all. It's good to be back at Champions, but losing to 100 Thieves today will make it a bumpier road."
