What role do you play?

Duelist: probably need to be more aggressive
Initiator: probably need to be more of a baiter
Sentinel: need to either lurk more or lurk less, usually the answer is lurk less
Controller: probably need to be more aggressive

Sentinel needs to lurk 95% of the time to have a map control in case of a team rotation or catch the other rotation off-guard. No point to go 5 stack if your plan isn't to rush in site no matter what.

I have over 700 hours on senti, again you couldn’t be more incorrect. I encourage you to just watch any high level ranked senti player, I promise you they aren’t lurking 11/12 attack rounds like you are suggesting

Yes, they do. Lurker role (Sentinel / Viper) is a crucial role for a team to win on Attacking sided if your team are afraid to entry. They need to lurk and find a timing to punish or put a pressure so that they can't just fast rotate and stack one side.

What's the point of giving up map control just to all 5 waiting on choke point when they can just stack side knowing we don't have any lurker and already lose map control?

You have a very idealized version of the game, ranked does not play out the way you are describing it. Even nats does not lurk as much in ranked as you say

Lurking is important but not as much as you have idealized. You need to understand when and how to lurk rather than lurking most of the time. The main thing is to catch opp side off guard. If you see any high level plays/high level ranked lobbies, they do lurk but most of the time they catch you off guard.

I do understand how to lurk but that's not the point of discussion here? Point is he said you should potentially lurk less and that's a false. You don't need to lurk less at all but you need to lurk smart.

eh. Sometimes lurking smart is not lurking at all. At the point where you made enough presence to make the enemy believe your tendency is lurking every round, you should throw a curveball or two. Lurk in a different area, hit the site with your team and backstab when your team gets bomb down, just 5 hit and make your opponents respect your lurk with your utility. There's many more ways to play your lurk without truly lurking. Hitting sites with your teammates allow for inserting yourself in the main if you get stalled while they go elsewhere. Without a reclear you haven't lurked the whole round but just kept space. Either way, your lurk is a 2/3 of your rounds-ish kind of play, it should be regular but not almost guaranteed, that's how you get punished and lose your team a round on the spot. Trust me, there's plenty of rounds I lose from overstaying my welcome on an extremity, getting ulted or util dumped and punished, and my team is forced to hit site and play against a stacked retake or a stacked site with no extra space on an extremity.

What you explained just literally a lurk smart. and i agree with that.

Your theory only works in pro play and even in pro play it’s dicey. Ranked lurks simply just aren’t planned well enough to find the same value as they do in pro play and are very often predictable. For example, in pro play on Lotus a lurk idea is to play the opposite side of the map and lurk through a site that’s not B. In ranked, this will NEVER work, and is considered troll, because ranked execs simply end much faster than you have time to lurk, so either they will plant the spike on C while you’re still stairs, or they will all die mound while you’re lurking on A

He's 100% right, you missed the key statement "if your plan isn't to rush in site no matter what.". In that case map control is definitely important to avoid getting caught* offguard by opps pushing mid or the other site while your team is rotating back to the other site, simple concept.

At least I know I'm not crazy here. Another ball acknowledger. In a world full of crazy people, we gotta have each other's back.

Caveat: every sentinel except Sage should be lurking. And even then, it is sometimes more useful to have the sentinel rush with the team since they can have utility to gain info quickly, like a flash or cam from Vyse and Cypher.

The real answer is not to lurk less or more, but to time your lurks better, which relies on how you read the minimap. Sometimes it's not worth committing to the lurk if the enemy team is controlling an area with info utility and a player off of its contact.

Controllers and Initiators can lurk occasionally (if you have Sova with a long-range line-up, for example), which means the sentinel can support the team. You don't want the enemy team to expect the same player in the same place even if you vary your timings.

This is correcto. Lurk smart not lurk just to lurk. Go entry with the team if the plan is to rush.

Your Raze and Neon are getting a good amount of attack rounds won so for what it's worth, you can watch back the games you play on those agents to see what you're doing differently compared to when you play Chamber. In fairness, Chamber is the most aggro sentinel and people can sometimes mistreat him like a duelist without actually remembering he needs to take a lurk timing rather than just send it into space. It might also be good to watch how some pro players play Chamber - not that all of it will apply to ranked, but to see what you can try out and see works for you.

chamber is better on defense so self explanatory but for the duelists, u might be baiting too much which makes it harder for ur team to play off u, get kills, and win the round.
