Efina joins having most recently competed for X-CAST X-CAST Korea Rank #22 INPA Lee Sung-tan (이성탄) Taegeuk Beom rsd YJ in the Korean Challengers scene, while Raxcal is a call-up from Gen.G Global Academy Gen.G Global Academy Korea Rank #11 KiTae Park Ki-tae (박기태) Fric Jeon Jae-hyeok (전재혁) Sovereign Kim Do-hyun (김도현) RgoN Yong Seung-hyeon (용승현) .

Gen.G's mid-year facelift has come with good reason. Since enjoying one of the single-greatest Valorant seasons in 2024, it has taken a dip in form, reaching just one international event in that time. The rebuild has seen Gen.G part ways with Lakia , who was the go-to Initiator player for the team in 2024 and returned this year to take on IGL duties, and shut down ZynX for the rest of the year to address a severe wrist injury.

In filling out its two roster spots, Gen.G has taken two very different approaches. In the IGL spot, the team has picked up Efina, a well-known name in the Korean Valorant scene. He's deep-rooted in Korea's early Valorant scene, competing for Vision Strikers Vision Strikers Inactive stax Kim Gu-taek (김구택) Rb Goo Sang-min (구상민) Zest Kim Ki-seok (김기석) BuZz Yu Byeong-cheol (유병철) MaKo Kim Myeong-gwan (김명관) / Quantum Strikers Quantum Strikers Inactive Efina Kim Nak-yeon (김낙연) TS Yu Tae-seok (유태석) GODLIKE Lee Seo-ha (이서하) exy Park Geun-cheol (박근철) eKo Yeom Wang-ryong (염왕룡) alongside names like stax and Zest . After a short stint with TNL Esports TNL Esports Inactive TS Yu Tae-seok (유태석) exy Park Geun-cheol (박근철) Jinboong Kim Jin-won (김진원) Meteor Kim Tae-oh (김태오) , he joined F4Q F4Q Inactive Hermes Ahn Byeong-wook (안병욱) Estrella Park Gun (박건) fiveK Yoo Sung-min (유성민) GOLD Geum Chang-wan (금창완) in 2021. As the team's Sentinel player, he reached Masters Berlin with the squad while playing alongside players like Bunny and zunba .

After the 2021 season, Efina's professional Valorant career seemed to have ended. He took on streaming until 2024, when he joined Team IAM Team IAM Inactive GodDead Kim Sung-sin (김성신) Moothie Yoo Seung-Woo (유승우) Sunday Kim Min-soo (김민수) Bunny Chae Joon-hyuk (채준혁) Doenmo Ahn Seung-won (안승원) as a core member alongside some of Korea's biggest Valorant streamers with varying levels of Tier 1 and Tier 2 experience. Team IAM disbanded following the 2024 season, and while other core members like Bunny, GodDead , Doenmo , and 972 have ended their playing careers, Efina has continued on. He joined T1 Academy T1 Academy Korea Rank #8 Satoru Park Jeong-woo (박정우) Gnadel Han Gnadel (한그나델) DarK Park Jung-hyeon (박중현) Impact Park Sung-hyun (박성현) wezzy Oh Min-seo (오민서) midway through the 2025 season, seeing out the final two stages of the year and then competing with two different PUG squads in 2026. Efina, at long last, has found his Tier 1 opportunity, but does so as the team's IGL. He's expected to take on the vacant Sentinel role for the team, but has shown an ability to fill the Initiator role as of late.

While Efina, born in 2001, joins as a well-traveled veteran, Raxcal is a different addition. Born in 2008, he turned 18 just last month, making him the youngest player in the world when he takes to the stage later this month at Pacific Stage 2. Raxcal has been a Duelist player for his entire career, bar a few maps on Controller agents, and is expected to continue in that role. This opens the door for former academy product Ash to move back to the Initiator role, while Duelist duties will be left to Raxcal and star t3xture .
