You know in school when you have to write the sources but you don’t have any so you just make up the citations because who’s gonna check

Honestly that’s what so much of slop academia is - people cite each other for their papers like a circlejerk and all they’re doing is causing bloat in the body of literature rather than contributing to something useful

I realize this is beyond the scope of VLR but it’s a peeve of mine
