JessieVash and Team Secret part ways after five years

One of the VCT's oldest stints has come to a close nearly five years later following Team Secret Team Secret Asia-Pacific Rank #45 kellyS Kelly Sedillo natz Jonathan Adiputra STYRON Tidus Goh Zeus Jhian Vega Sylvan Go Young-sup (고영섭) 's announcement of Jessie "JessieVash" Cuyco's departure.

Initially onboarded back in late 2021 alongside the rest of the Bren Esports Bren Esports Inactive squad, JessieVash remained with Team Secret throughout their acceptance into the VCT partnership in 2023 and into the new era of the competitive circuit.

Unfortunately, the organization achieved lackluster results within the Pacific League as Vash's squad failed to qualify for a single international event – their closest run manifesting in a second-place finish at 2023's Pacific LCQ – and slowly began nosediving in standings over time.

Many roster changes over the years would bring some hope to fans, but as Team Secret continued to miss out on global events, nothing seemed to bring them remotely close to reaching a Masters or Champions event.

The 2026 season saw secret finish dead last in Pacific's Kickoff, a result that was narrowly avoided in Stage 1 after the team scraped up their first win of the year against Gen.G Gen.G Korea Rank #3 Ash Ha Hyun-cheol (하현철) Karon Kim Won-tae (김원태) t3xture Kim Na-ra (김나라) Efina Kim Nak-yeon (김낙연) Raxcal Kim Min-seok (김민석) five months into the season.

JessieVash's departure shuts the door on a journey that spanned over multiple years that not many outside of Jake "Boaster" Howlett and Erick "Xeppaa" Bach can boast, especially at the top level of the VCT.

“Nothing but gratitude. Grateful for the journey,” wrote JessieVash. “Looking forward to spending more time with my son. While keeping an open mind for what's next.”

I used to be a Jvash defender. As an IGL, I thought he was decent and could still contribute in terms of firepower. What made me change my mind was seeing other teams sign promising Filipino talent like PatMen and Xavi8k, while Team Secret seemed unable to build a stronger roster.

I also never understood why they let Invy go.

My concern is that management may have been trying to avoid making Jvash the easy scapegoat by not putting him in a roster where his performance could be judged alongside stronger teammates. That's just my perception, but it made some of the roster decisions difficult to understand.

Since the manager is his wife, it's natural for fans to question whether there could be bias, even if there isn't any. As long as the current management setup remains, I think there will always be speculation about a Jvash comeback.
