Global Esports earns first-ever win over Paper Rex, trains eyes on London

In a back-and-forth 2-1 victory, Global Esports downed Paper Rex Paper Rex Asia-Pacific Rank #1 invy Adrian Jiggs Reyes Jinggg Wang Jing Jie f0rsakeN Jason Susanto d4v41 Khalish Rusyaidee something Ilya Petrov for the first time in the organization's history. Dating back to 2021, PRX held a 7-0 record against GE, which included just three maps dropped. The run also extended with head coach FrosT , who had never earned a win over the dinos while head coach of TALON TALON Inactive Killua Tanate Teerasawad thyy Anupong Preamsak Crws Thanamethk Mahatthananuyut JitBoyS Jittana Nokngam primmie Papaphat Sriprapha for two years.

Play began on GE's pick of Breeze, a map that has proven to be a solid one for them as of late. Using an off-meta Sage-Chamber comp, Global was held to just six rounds on attack, but effectively shut down the PRX double-Duelist on defense. Limiting PRX to just one round after the pistol and anti-eco, GE never quite looked uncomfortable, breezing to a 13-9 win to open the series.

GE settled into more of a meta comp on Lotus, opting for a double-Controller Omen-Viper with Neon, Vyse, and Fade. Meanwhile, PRX leaned into its strengths with a Jett-Raze double-Duelist, capitalizing on the comfort picks of something and Jinggg . The opening rounds of Lotus seesawed between the attacking GE and the defending PRX. A GE pistol was shut down by a PRX thrifty to open the map, and once an Operator was put into the hands of something, the map opened up for PRX. Round after round, what looked to be an insistence on pushing C resulted in GE losing gunfights on mound or being flooded in retakes, resulting in a 9-3 PRX lead at half. While GE won the pistol and anti-eco to open the second half, that was as much as they'd get, as PRX closed the map with a dominant 13-5 scoreline.

Pearl, the decider map of the series, is a storied map for both teams. PRX's saga with the map extends back to Kickoff of last year, when it was arguably the worst map in their pool. The map was also GE's permaban throughout the earlier portions of Stage 1. Since then, both teams have made tweaks to their approach on the map, turning a once-dreaded map into a reliable float in the map ban process.

Using its reinvented comp centered on Neon, Phoenix, and Killjoy, GE was dominant from start to finish. Any feeling of being down on Lotus was left on Lotus, as the team was up 9-3 at halftime following its defense half, thanks to a combined 30 kills coming from Autumn and PatMen .

The winning moment for GE.

In a similar pattern to Lotus, the trailing team won the pistol and anti-eco, but that was the beginning of the end. Once GE had its first buy round on attack, it won out the rest of the map, the series, and laid the tracks for its own train to London.

FULL SENSE gets revenge on T1 in 2-0 sweep to secure Masters slot

In the second match of the day, Group Omega runner-ups FULL SENSE downed Group Omega leaders T1 T1 Korea Rank #2 stax Kim Gu-taek (김구택) Meteor Kim Tae-oh (김태오) BuZz Yu Byeong-cheol (유병철) iZu Ham Woo-ju (함우주) Munchkin Byeon Sang-beom (변상범) with a clean 2-0 victory. The win earned the TALON-infused FULL SENSE core its first international berth since Champions Seoul in 2024, and the organization its first since Champions Berlin in 2021.

FULL SENSE picked Pearl to start the series, a map that the two teams played on just last week. T1 stuck with its double-Initiator comp with Tejo and Sova, while FS continued with its double-Duelist look this Stage with a Phoenix, but changed the Cypher for a Vyse. Additionally, the team moved star Duelist primmie onto Jett while abandoning Neon altogether on the map.

primmie's Operator was lethal on the map. He racked up nine kills with the long-range sniper, and his work on defense helped FS to an 8-4 halftime lead. A pistol, anti-eco, and bonus round quickly made the lead 11-4, but as T1 clawed back a few rounds thanks to heroics from the likes of Meteor , there was just not enough room for mistakes, as FS eventually closed out the map 13-9.

After losing out on FS's map pick, T1 moved onto its own pick of Lotus, a map that it has not lost since its return to the map rotation. Meanwhile, FS had banned it three times in Stage 1, winning it on two occasions against VARREL VARREL Japan Rank #5 Foxy9 Jung Jae-sung (정재성) C1ndeR Ko Jae-hyuk (고재혁) Klaus Kim Min-hyuk (김민혁) XuNa Kim Tae-geon (김태건) oonzmlp Shin Sang-beom (신상범) Zexy Jang Suk-hyun (장석현) and Kiwoom DRX Kiwoom DRX Korea Rank #4 Hermes Ahn Byeong-wook (안병욱) yong Kim Ho-yong (김호용) MaKo Kim Myeong-gwan (김명관) free1ng No Ha-jun (노하준) HYUNMIN Song Hyun-min (송현민) BeYN Kang Ha-bin (강하빈) . With primmie paving the way forward on Jett, the Thai squad entered halftime up 8-4 once again.

primmie is automatic in the anti-eco.

primmie had 15 kills in the half, and moved over onto defense with the Operator once again a steady weapon for him. He went 4-1 in duels with the gun, and in the end went 5-2 in first duels over the entire map. T1 won the pistol and anti-eco to start its own attack, but FS were stellar as a team, winning four out of five post plants after going up 9-4 to close out the map and the series.
