Medusa rose to notability in the early days of the Japanese scene with the unsigned BAKEMON BAKEMON Inactive Arius team. That roster was quickly picked up by Crazy Raccoon Crazy Raccoon Japan Rank #3 Astell Moon Ji-won (문지원) popogachi Souta Morita Meiy neth Yusuke Matsuda rion Hiroto Tateno in July 2020, becoming one of Japan's strongest teams in the following year.

In spite of a lackluster 2020, Medusa & co. spent 2021 on top of the leaderboards. After winning Stage 1: Masters, the roster traveled to Reykjavik for its international debut, where they were eliminated without winning a match. Crazy Raccoon failed to find better results in Masters: Berlin and Champions, as they were unable to advance to playoffs on both occasions.

Meanwhile, REJECT have historically been on their back foot. They attended First Strike, Stage 1: Masters and Stage 2: Challengers Finals, but only placed third in each of these tournaments. REJECT's worst VCT placements came in at the end of the year, following their first roster changes. A top-eight finish in the Stage 3: Challengers Playoffs and a top 10 finish in the APAC LCQ rounded out their year.

Medusa caps off a reconstruction period for REJECT, which involved acquiring ex- ZETA DIVISION ZETA DIVISION Japan Rank #2 Laz Ushida Koji crow Maruoka Tomoaki Dep Yuuma Hisamoto SugarZ3ro Shota Watanabe TENNN Tenta Asai players Oshiro "Reita" Ryu and Takemori "takej" Shogo, as well as Jyousuke "zepher" Matsuda, a long-time colleague of Medusa and former Crazy Raccoon member.
