They dont go into soccer because there's a financial barrier in the United States for soccer. It's not supported at the public school level, unlike basketball and football. If you want to develop at the age necessary to get pro scouted in the united states, it means shilling out thousands of dollars for private coaching and travel teams, which isn't feasible unless youre extremely privileged. Privileged kids don't make the best athletes
