XLG selected Abyss for the first map. Having not played the map since their loss to FURIA towards the start of Americas Kickoff, G2 brought out a brand-new composition featuring jawgemo on Neon, BABYBAY on Waylay, and valyn on Harbor against XLG's Waylay-Yoru lineup.
XLG got off to a solid start, winning the pistol and demonstrating solid B holds and retakes to go up 5-3. Individual from G2 brought the half back to 6-6, with jawgemo finding a 4K and trent and BABYBAY pulling off a 2v3.
jawgemo pushes his own team's Cosmic Divide and mows down four. After mixed results in the first half, the Harbor pick enabled a near-perfect defense for G2. The Cove proved to be the ideal retake tool in the pistol round and the walls enabled overwhelming floods on both sites. valyn racked up 12 kills in nine rounds as G2 ran away to a 13-8 win.
On Haven, G2 continued to lean into their newfound Paper Rex-esque style, bringing out the Phoenix and Chamber composition after defeating MIBR 13-4 with it at the end of Kickoff.
This outing was similarly dominant. XLG won the pistol, but things spiraled out of control for them soon after as they struggled to manage G2's forward pushes and controlled holds. G2 was in control from start to finish as a 9-3 score turned into a 13-3.
