The matchup was eye-catching for many reasons. Apart from the star-studded cast of names on stage, the match was EDG head coach Autumn 's first time going up against his former squad in T1.

The series played out on T1's pick of Bind and EDG's pick of Haven. T1 won Bind in dominant fashion, winning 13-1, then used a strong defense side on Haven to win 13-10 to send EDG home with an 0-2 record.

Play opened on T1's pick of Bind, which has been a map that plays into T1's strengths, enabling double-Duelist play with BuZz and iZu . That luxury isn't just exclusive to T1 though, as EDG could move sharpshooter ZmjjKK onto Chamber while new signing cb played solo Duelist.

T1 opened Bind dominantly, with BuZz, iZu, and Meteor claiming a 4K each through the first three rounds.

4K, 4K, 4K was how T1 started the series.

China's third seed could not cope with T1's mosquito comp attack, allowing 11 rounds on defense. The Korean squad was firing on all cylinders on this day, with stax claiming a 3K in the pistol round to start the second half, signaling the beginning of the end.

EDG's map pick of Haven dared both teams to bring their best. The map has been a strength in both teams' map pools in recent times, though EDG suffered a loss to Gentle Mates Gentle Mates Europe Rank #9 starxo Patryk Kopczynski bipo Taranvir Singh marteen Martin Pátek GLYPH Conner Garcia Minny Patrik Hušek on the map in their opening series of the event. To start, EDG started on attack and won its first pistol of the series, but T1 re-seized the momentum shortly after. T1 took on a more aggressive, in-your-face approach on defense, forcing the issue onto an EDG attack that could benefit from a slower roll with the Chamber. EDG managed to make the score 8-4 by halftime, and another pistol round victory threatened to make the map a closer one.

KangKang began to heat up on defense, the side on which he went a perfect 4-0 in first duels and logged 15 of his 25 kills. The series went and forth, but in the end, T1's halftime advantage gave them the upper hand in a half that kept swaying between the sides.

T1 ends EDG's Masters Santiago run.

KangKang's 33 team-high 33 kills were not enough, as he was the only member of his team finishing with more than 25 kills. In the win, BuZz was one of three T1 players to finish with more than 30 kills, as he had 35. He also went 11-5 in first duels, while stax had a match-high 1.31 rating in the series.

EDG will end its Masters Santiago run after just two matches and zero maps won. With Masters Bangkok-winning head coach Autumn now having a Kickoff and a Swiss Stage behind him, the squad will head back home for China Stage 1, set to begin March 31.
