am i the only one who has a couple songs that i know for a fact are objectively «bad», but for some reason i keep wanting to listen to them even though there are so many flaws

nevermind by phoneboy is like 80% chorus and the lyrics are mid at best but its fire

what does objectively bad music mean? doesn't everyone have their own taste cuz it is subjective

theres no such thing as objectively bad songs, because that would mean songwriting and composing has rules, which aren't the case. there's patterns there are followed for certain things but they aren't supposed to be strict, and most of the greatest songs ever made are the ones who experiment with them creatively

what makes a song "bad" is subjective to the context it was made, being it historical, personal, social, or something else. if i released a beatles, elvis, dylan, or whatever old song today it would go completely unnoticed and would be boring as hell. but at the time it was completely revolutionary. some songs age well, some doesn't. if you like a song, then it means something to you, so its good to you for your own personal reasons
