soccer is for little baby nerds
grow up and play a real sport like jai alai or kabbadi
To have a match where two teams match each other blow for blow only to settle it with a method where only one team comes out triumphant and the other one with heartbreak is what makes a penalty shootout so suspenseful. Football is hard to get into if you don't know what the players are doing or how the team is playing, but if you get past that hurdle I guarantee that it is an awesome sport. It's kind of like how I don't find basketball interesting because they score every 2 minutes.
It's not. Football is the easiest game to understand, I follow it since I was born, when I was young it was okay, but now it's absolutely horrible to watch. They are no construction in the goal because in the meta defense > attack, so it's just a counter-attack (Giving team that score first a huge advantage) or a player that just shoot a random shoot from afar that the goal cant stop. The fact possession and territory
If the only thing that make the game watchable is the legacy of the player then the sport is a boring sport, I can enjoy a Rugby game without knowing any player in a game.
I agree about Baskeball (And Handball, I've played handball for something like 8 years, and it got the same problem than basketball)
Maybe it's just when you taste and understand rugby (that IS a hard game to understand in comparison), it's no longueur possible to enjoy tasteless football. This sport is gonna die and is perfect exemple of what is unbearable for the next generation
PS : I don't know if I hate football because Rugby make the bar higher, if thats because I grew or it's because the meta, or if it is because how they kill the politics inside of the club (That was that gave soul to football) and replace it by another type of politics that is absolutely soulless, but I cant stand it now.
it's probably bc of two reasons:
big teams winning over and over again (which is slowly changing this season)
you probably watched more rugby than football
but I guarantee you football and rugby are entertaining in their both ways, you can like a sport without hating on the other
that's just my two cents tho
For your 2nd point, nope, I did watch way more Football than Rugby, I watched every single game in world cup and Europe cup, plus the game of qualification games of France. For world cup I was looking the score of every team in qualifier and even made some stats on it, in Rugby I was watching only french game (And 6 nations). I was living in Marseille in that city it's really important to be able to speak about football for keeping the poor social status I had lol.
For your 1st point, I didn't watch Champions League, for 2 reason, first we don't have the channel that own the right, second, it's just a money shitshow with player that doesnt belong to the country they represent, (you can add the fact they are no french team, partly because DNCG is doing an almost decent job, this could have help to follow it), we dont have this problem when thats nation that play each other, and they are a lot of upset (wave at Island)
But I agree we can like more than one sport. I like watching Biathlon, and I also like watching cycling (With the good method it becomes entertaining just put it in the background, do something else, and when the commentary voice raises, just watch). But even with that Football is absolutely unbearable and will just survive because anyone can play that game with no resources
The amount of people in this thread saying its not soccer and its football when they are the same thing are stupid. Like do you guys realize that the word "soccer" is just the shortened version of Association Football, and wasn't even created by America it was created by the British to differentiate between Rugby Football and Association Football.
Don't comment "It is football, not soccer" or "*football" when both Soccer and Football are just shortened versions of Association Soccer
