Americas Week 1 Rankings

I did a post a while ago ranking americas players individually, per role and in general, and also ranked teams post-kickoff. After Week 1, this is my current one, since we had first impressions, roster moves, more figured out roles, etc. This list takes overall year so far, but also taking account the first match of regular season and how the player/team evolved from kickoff. I also put some tiers to separate the roles and teams, since it feels like there's some clear gaps between them. Feel free to suggest and debate changes, i'm updating if i find it reasonable enough. Next list is coming after split 1 regular phase or playoffs (haven't decided which one yet).

P.S: Some teams have some weird roles overlaps specially on initiator/flex, like LEV, 100T, and Kru, so this is just my take on the roles (some are different than last list). If you feel different about someone, you can suggest too.

P.S.2: Is not clear who igl'd Sen first match (apparently was bang?) but i'm keeping JohnQT as the IGL until the next list

Based list

Interesting that we have the same top 5 from kickoff after the first week of VCT

Let's see how the rankings change after week 2, specially with the results of KRU vs SEN and MIBR vs G2 (the top 4 teams)

yep. pretty much i havent seen evolution from anyone outside of the top 4, and loud is on top 5 by being pretty much the non-worse team (lol). besides they did seem solid first three games, they are just shaky af now

Do you think Loud will end up replacing Tuyz? I've seen quite a lot of people asking for -Tuyz +Luk_xo but also some of their calls have been questionable on Vinny's part.

IMO the players are fine and have a lot of firepower, but their mental seems fragile, for example after the round Shyy 4k on a low buy they were too nervous and ended up making a lot of mistakes (against Sentinels too)

Idk how they should address their issues at this point

Do you think Loud will end up replacing Tuyz?

I think he has shown some evolution on the Sentinel role during the Krü game and he was looking great (Besides Haven, which was more of a comp diff than anything), but he seriously needs to find some consistency. His lurk timings and pressure on sides were great on fracture, and then split first half was amazing, finding some really good first kills and holding flanks... just for his Split 2nd half be absolutely terrible and he couldn't hold a site. Stk has said he wants to eventually put Lukxo when he's ready; If Tuyz can find this consistency, i will find it hard for Lukxo to sub him, but if he doesn't (which he haven't found until now), he will be out as soon as Lukxo can play

some of their calls have been questionable on Vinny's part.

Also agree with this, i think he's been having a difficult time with midrounding and he should work on that. It seems to me (based on comm videos) he's been trying to micromanage too much (specially Cauanzin agressivity) and he ends up being overwhelmed and a bit slow on calls and on his own individual game when this happens. He should trust the team with their positioning and focus on the macro (but also i understand because Cauanzin can be a bit too much sometimes and he should work on that)

their mental seems fragile

Agree with this too. Loud's mental was the strongest aspect of the team in 2022 and 2023 and i think they lost a lot of that with their psychologist getting stuck in Brazil (idk if it's visa issues but likely it is) and they end up doing their mental preparation virtually which just isn't the same, and not having him between maps is rough

I feel like this team doesn't need much changes, they need small fixes to go to the right direction, and eventually reach their full potential which can be very high if they do things right

Wow great analysis, I wouldn't know the comms part bc I don't know portuguese but that makes a lot of sense, I think for example on KRÜ they've said that Adverso just makes the initial plan and Mazino/Keznit comm a lot on the mid round as the playmakers, so If Vinny is taking that much responsibility on pre round and mid round it's reasonable to expect such low performance.

And about the psychologist... It's so unfair we have such kind of issues just to play on NA, but that's like a whole different topic that Riot should address.

yeah, i think pancada is also midrounding but overall their comm just seems messy. if they can fix this most of their problems go away

they can try on lotus, its the only map they use double duelist and yoru is good (and they're 0/4 on lotus)

Duelist:
Zekken (SEN) – Zekken’s ability to perform under pressure and his versatility puts him as the top duelist. His impact might not always be obvious, but he consistently shows up when needed.

Dgzin (LOUD) – Dgzin is often overlooked but is a huge threat. His ability to adapt and make game-changing plays is underrated.

Mada (NRG) – Mada is an unsung hero. His mechanics and decision-making are excellent, and he brings a level of consistency that not many can match.

Asuna (100T) – Asuna has had some high moments, but his consistency in high-pressure situations still needs work compared to others at the top.

Oxy (C9) – Oxy has been on the rise, showing some great performance, but I still need to see more consistency at the highest level.

Initiator:
Mitch (C9) – Mitch has the highest ceiling as an initiator. His flexibility and the impact he has on rounds is immense.

Cauanzin (LOUD) – Cauanzin’s ability to set up the team is highly valued. His impact might be quieter, but when he’s on point, he controls the tempo of the game.

JohnQT (SEN) – JohnQT has shown great potential and leadership, but his consistency has been a bit shaky compared to others in this role.

Brawk (NRG) – Brawk is solid, but I don’t see the same game-changing moments that the top initiators consistently bring.

Adverso (KRÜ) – He’s effective, but he doesn’t always show up in the biggest moments, and his overall game can be inconsistent.

Flex:
Mazino (KRÜ) – Mazino is one of the most versatile and clutch flex players in the region. His ability to step up and perform across different maps and situations puts him above the rest.

Cryo (100T) – Cryo is still one of the most mechanically gifted players, and his ability to clutch in the right moments is something to behold. He just needs to focus on his consistency across a split.

V1nny (LOUD) – V1nny may not always pop off, but he can play an instrumental role in clutch moments. His calm and methodical approach gives him the edge in crucial situations.

Xeppa (C9) – Xeppa is skilled, but the lack of a consistent game-changing factor puts him lower in this ranking.

Rossy (LEV) – Rossy’s potential is clear, but he’s still developing his role and decision-making compared to others at the top.

Controller:
Melser (KRÜ) – Melser has been quietly exceptional, especially in crucial rounds. He’s the most consistent controller in the region right now.

Bang (SEN) – Bang's impact is undeniable, and his knowledge of the game allows him to perform consistently.

Valyn (G2) – Valyn is a great controller, but his game-changing impact is sometimes overshadowed by others.

Pancada (LOUD) – Pancada is great at setting up his team, but he lacks the standout moments that some of the other controllers have.

S0m (NRG) – S0m is solid, but his impact isn’t as loud compared to others in the role.

Sentinel:
Leaf (G2) – Leaf is a constant in this role. His ability to control the pace of the game and his consistency is unmatched.

Cortezia (MIBR) – Cortezia has been one of the most reliable players this split, and his positioning and game sense elevate his team consistently.

Shyy (KRÜ) – Shyy is incredibly consistent and strong in his role, but he lacks the versatility that Leaf and Cortezia can show.

Zellsis (SEN) – Zellsis has good performances, but I still feel like his impact is less consistent than the top 3.

Tuyz (LOUD) – Tuyz has his moments, but he still lacks the refinement and consistency that the best sentinels have.

IGL:
Valyn (G2) – Valyn’s leadership and decision-making are second to none in the region. His calm and composed style make him the top IGL.

JohnQT (SEN) – JohnQT has been impressive in his role as IGL, although the team is still growing into their full potential.

V1nny (LOUD) – V1nny has been great at adjusting mid-game, but his strategic depth still isn’t at the level of the top IGLs.

Mitch (C9) – Mitch is a solid IGL, but he doesn’t always have the same impact in clutch moments that others do.

Raafa (FUR) – Raafa has the leadership qualities, but his decision-making and adaptability need to catch up to the best IGLs in the region.

Pancada (LOUD) – Pancada is great at setting up his team, but he lacks the standout moments that some of the other controllers have.

wtf lmao

do you even see pancada play

anyways agree with most takes except initator role

Yeah, I’ve definitely watched Pancada, and I still think his current form puts him where I ranked him. He’s obviously a great player, but compared to the top-tier controllers in the region right now, I don’t think he’s been as impactful. Open to hearing why you think he should be higher, though.

#27

i think pancada placement is alright, but he has been the best player in loud in the year so far (although dgzin impact might be more seen). he has had a lot of clutch moments in the season already, so i disagree with the lack of standout moments. the only thing holding him back currently is the lack of a more organized team, which might come with time with loud

Keznit 2nd 😂

#26
foythvlr

i was rotating between him and jawgemo tbh. the two + zekken are high-ceiling players that have been a bit inconsistent on the year, but keznit have the best "excuse" (his hand was apparently injured), while jawgemo seems to be adapting to the team and zekken might be just sentinels as a whole being inconsistent. so i used the first regular season game as the tiebraker, and keznit absolutely fried with the likely most difficult game overall, so i put him in second

i have my own opinions on him (as a player) but i tried to be as unbiased as i can in this list

not being better than anyone above him, but probably because the team is holding him back with bad results

#30

out of everyone above him he has the highest stats from like kickoff to now

#31
foythvlr
0
Frags

im not taking only stats into account; just reading them on surface and lacking context might be misleading. for example, many of them are boosted by exit frags and baiting when he's saving, thats why his kast is high and he has the biggest kills of his team with less deaths - specially on losing maps. is not something neccessarily bad, he's a controller, he's supposed to do that, and sometimes is just how the round goes. just saying that his impact looking only by stats can be taken higher than it truly is
