Scrims DO matter (a little bit)

I don't think it's fair to say that just because a team is owning in scrims it's a better team than another team, but I also don't think the fact that it's a scrim takes away from said team's skill.

Whenever a pro player says a team is frying in scrims, that team has ended up being a pretty top tier challenger; M80, The Guard, MXM, The Union

Of course there are exceptions like MAD lions, but those are few and far between.

Plot twist: other teams purposely throw matches in scrim to make other teams think they are better than said teams.

really depends on context tbh
for eg scrims in the middle of masters where teams are refining their plays rather than 'practicing' and trying stuff out matters

scrims between franchised team and non franchised teams should be a serious match, trying all their set plays that they plan to use in real matches
for obvious reasons

For newly assembled team, scrim is very useful to build synergy and getting used to new teammates

I think we should distinguish between scrims and scrim results because the scrims themselves do matter, for the practice. The results probably only matter in a mental sense, like gaining confidence or feeling better about tactics.

mock test vs real test lmfao

Exactly! if someone is doing good on the mock test then they have pretty good chances of succeeding in the real test.

Especially for challengers teams that don't get an opportunity to play against franchised teams it's a decently good way to tell how good they are in actuality.

but what if the real test is way harder than the mock test because mock test was just a 5% of total syllabus.

There are a lot of cases where it mattered (as you mentioned) and a lot of cases were it didn’t (NRG, 100T, LEV) so at least in my eyes it’s pretty clear there’s little correlation between match and scrim performance.

Especially at the highest level where strats and reads that aren’t practiced in scrims play a big role it especially doesn’t matter, but you are prob more right for t2

Nachtel is right to a certain degree tho but like you said it's not always the case (Leviatan i'm looking at you)

Maybe it is more correct for T2, since franchised teams don't hold back strats against challengers teams, since they don't have to play them.

I think the problem with scrims is that lots of times, teams will b practicing a specific strat like a b execute or a b split. They arent really midrounding or even trying to adapt.

do u know 99.99% gamblers quit before they earn big so if we apply that logic then yes scrims does matter (a little bit)
