I grew up watching Inazuma 11 on television. But I truly believe that Blue Lock is much better. The only reason people dont admit that Blue Lock is peak sports fiction is because they view older anime through the rose tinted lens of nostalgia.

I respect both opinions a lot, I think both are incredible, but a sports anime that I can't seem to like is Haikyuu!! I hate this anime, simply because it doesn't seem to have an evolution, they just lose, lose and lose. And they never win, there's no evolution, now in inazuma eleven, even when they lose, they get something out of it and in the end they manage to win. They even lose the first match, but in the rematch, they always win

I think it's a good anime/manga, but I like it less than most people,. It's not even the best shonen for me.
I started to watch it a long time ago, and then read the manga to catch up faster to the story, but didn't like the experience of reading weekly, the arcs are way too long. So I'm waiting for it to end to resume reading/watching.

Code geass.
Stop recommending people to start with older anime like Shippuden or One piece. Or ask them to read the manga. Newer anime looks better and appeals to a wider audience. One of my favorite anime is Ping pong because I absolutely love the art design and I have played Table Tennis professionally. But none of my friends like it. They looked at the art design and animation and they just could not get over it. My gf on the other hand loved 'That Time I Reincarnated as a Slime'. It is easy going and pretty to look at so newcomers will actually enjoy watching it. We even went to watch the movie last week(Scarlet Bond).
