Nah I think Masters 3 wasn't. NV (Optic) team was dominant for the entire 2022 and ex-Gambit players played pretty well in EMEA VCT and did a nice performance in this lock in (waiting for chronicle, tho).

I think we should appreciate that those group of players miraculously took down both gambit and liquid to win it all. They finally beat the "cned and friends" that finals every player was putting in work.

You can say that gambit were "unlucky" but in the end of the day it really does not matter. Acend are the first chaps winners and it will stay that way for the rest of time.

It wasn't a fluke, they were one of the best teams in 2021 , they won their regional masters, went out in top 8 in Berlin and finally won champions. They broke off early 2022 so there is not much to it.

I am not a big fan of discrediting teams of their trophies. Maybe it was a Cinderella run and maybe Gambit was the deserving one but they played well and won when it matters the most. So I don't like to think it was a fluke.

It wasn't a fluke. Anyone who thinks this doesn't know what they are talking about. Acend always had the chances of winning any international LAN even at the time of first Reykjavik. They were top 3 EMEA team for pretty much most of 2021 and were a threat to any EMEA team let it be Fnatic, Liquid, Gambit etc. at any time. Like you could even argue they were the EMEA favorites heading into Masters 3 Berlin (they placed 3rd, but for most part looked like the most well rounded team especially before seeding matches). They started Champions slow, but after Vivo Keyd game they didn't lose a single game IIRC.

And when it comes to 2022, well I dont know. Rumors at the time were saying how Acend was killing it in scrims and were ahead in terms of meta. But when the season started they quickly fell off and wasn't for long before roster changes. No idea why it happened, but it just did.

Bro, you really considering that Masters 1 2021? Look at that tournament. Almost nobody plays in tier 1 today.
Masters 2 they didn't qualify.
Masters 3 they got destroyed by Steel, Hiko and Nitr0. If it wasn't for GOD Cned solo carring they wouldn't even get to fight for the 3rd map
Champions they really did a nice performance beating NV (Optic) and Gambit (lucky, tho). But Team Secret and Liquid were totally all aim no brain back then.
