Ok I’m not personally too invested into esports so can someone who is explain this :
Why does Fnatic like always get so hyped up to win but kinda choke out a bit earlier than expected? I always see it like on the top of a tier list to win, but they kinda bombed out in masters 1 2022, did decent in masters 2 and champs 2022. Which to be fair is good, but not really the “top tier” team destined to win all of these tournaments.
(I’m not tryna hate I know Fnatic is a really solid team but I feel like it’s kinda overhyped sometimes)

one international win with 2 OTs

if we are talking about your finicky way of excluding the majority of fnatic lan games then yes.

Its only most of their LAN games because they consistently lose early and are unable to win games without seeing other teams play earlier in the tournament.

give me an example then.

since you're so lazy to see the scores and remember the matches i will do it for you
Champions 2022:
against DRX: won their 2nd best map, destroyed in ascent with a comeback, destroyed in fracture.
against XSET: destroyed again with comeback + cryo owned.
against 100T: lost their first match fairly easy but won the other match with VOD reviews.
against FURIA: dont even need to say anything, struggled to win against one of the worst teams in the tournament.

Masters Copenhaguen:
nothing worth that needs to be mentioned but they had really close games with LEV if you consider that an achievement against the first international tournament of them.

Masters Reykjavik 2022:
💀

Champions 2021:
lost to KRU with double duelists.
had close games with C9 and VS which werent even that good at the time.

even in the emea challengers against the other top teams FNATICS performance was dogshit to mediocre. their 2021 Masters Reykjavik performance was the best BY FAR if you consider that anything.
dick sucking their old team is not cool lil bro

Im talking about this.
the only advantage they had with this was vs fpx. at copenhagen.

Copenhagen vs lev: won 2 maps haven and fracture which lev had not played in the event yet.
lev won ascent which fnatic had played vs prx.

fnatic vs 100t rematch.
Maps fnatic won: bind ascent.

  • bind which they had already beaten 100t on earlier in the event..
  • ascent which neither teams had played up to that point

win vs liquid: both teams had played both maps in prior games at the event.

you can say fnatic was overrated etc etc but dont make up some complete horseshit to back it up

lev didnt even play haven against fnatic what u on...

fnatic vs 100t
i mean if they cant beat a team in their first international tournament in bind which is their best map, then
💀
and 100t ascent have always been terrible so i dont understand how this proves anything
and vs liquid, liquid was just dogshit in champions. with scream igling and playing duelists at the same time
and those arent complete horseshit buddy. those are statistics with a little bit of eye test on them.

they picked the map themselves. fnc 2-0 100t

that haven lev thing was a typo.
was meant to say bind which Lev had not played in the event previously but fnatic had.
so i dont understand where you are getting this fnatic "vod review advantage from"

bcz they always impress online but look very average on lan

kinda like DRX in groups and DRX in elims

idk why tho

maybe its because the "online" events were EMEA only, then they crumble against stronger regions

at least b0tster got to film content for Riot tho

bro if they cant win with 2 top 10 flex, top 3 duelist and top 3 initiator just disband the team 💀

agreed they should blow up the roster and build around boaster and mini for the 30th time, it has been working

Boaster effect on the team can go both ways.
If he feels like he's losing control of the game, the whole team feels like him.
luckly now, with LEO and Chronicle, the team feels stronger mentaly. but will see.

Because they always look so good online. In EMEA Stage 1 they finished 3rd, but looked like the 2nd best and if the finals would have been Fnatic vs FPX it would have been 50/50 I think, but Fnatic really choked vs G2 likely because of news of Braveaf not being able to make it to Iceland. In EMEA Stage 2 they placed 1st and again looked like the best and even better than FPX who ended up winning Copenhagen. And heading into Champions that hype obviously stayed because again they always looked insane online and were still placing high on LANs. Being so consistently good in EMEA just shows that you are really strong team.

and when it comes to this new team I mean its just really stacked. Previously they have always had "weak links" at least on firepower like Mistic(really stepped up in Champ) and Enzo. Now they have 4 players who could all be stars on separate teams + Boaster who no matter what has had a lot of success.

Doing well in EMEA tournaments doesn’t count because it’s a low skill region

Doma, Mistic, Magnum and Enzo are low end tier 1 players

Chronicle and Leo are actually high end tier 1 players and now I think they can really win a trophy (Masters or Champions).

they constantly relied on 1 or 2 players, which can't work on lan

They ran out of strats as the tournaments progressed further. And their fundamentals were pretty bad.

The only reason why Fnatic qualified to all international events but M3Berlin was them having an unexpected playstyle in EMEA, against which other teams didn't have time to prepare. But if there were more games being played in EMEA league/qualifiers, Fnatic wouldn't stand a chance.

The team overall was pretty fucking bad since the beginning of 2021 till mid 2022. But dumb EMEA system where you play 1 game and prepare for a week assisted Fnatic.

FNC used to be strong mentally when boaster focused on the game but ever since he started twerking and defending his caster girl friend's shit takes on the game (like banning people for tbags), his mental has been down the gutter whenever things dont go according to plan. for him to be a good and mentally strong IGL, he has to be far away from these antics, until then, they wont midround well.

This is why FNATIC should remove boaster and mini and build around the remaining players.
The reason they look good in EMEA is because they have more info on other EMEA teams, also the fact that it's a weekly format
There's less pressure and more time to anti strat.
But when it comes to LAN they have less info on teams outside their region and also less time to prepare in between games.
Do you see the recurring pattern with fnatic?

  1. Fnatic gets a new roster
  2. Honeymoon period in EMEA where they look good
  3. Look mediocre on lan and get knockout early
  4. Go back to step 1 to try to fix problems when the real problem is the coaching and the IGL...

FNATIC Cycle in a Nutshell

  1. FNATIC swap out 1 or 2 players for significant upgrades in that role (they will never swap out Coach Mini or IGL Boaster though)
  2. FNATIC go on to have a honeymoon phase, dominate EMEA and look like the best team itw (this is where they get overhyped)
  3. FNATIC arrive at LAN and look mediocre at best
  4. Repeat steps 1-3
