Champions 2022 had half the amount of teams and still more games.

"We want our days to be ~6 hours-long max, otherwise we burn out the audience. Multistreams is bad for a number of reasons" - Leo Faria

No fan will watch every game, guy thinks people are taking 3 weeks off school and work to watch val. People make time for their favourite team and if they have free time they'll watch a random team.

so agree. like for example, why sea fans (ID, Indian) & BR fans watch TH vs EG. also, the timezone is not suitable for pacific fans here. we probably will only watch our team or just 1 match per day and sleep

Continuous viewership is still viewership, even if it fluctuates.

The execution is quite underwhelmingly shit, I agree. But being able to broadcast every match is something that even dome shooters kind of struggle. It can lead to one stream having a higher percentage of viewers than the other, and lead to teams and matches having wild differences in average viewership.

Now I do believe this does plague Valorant, but with ensuring a centralized and continuous coverage of the event, it ensures at least someone will watch a team and the matches, and eliminate the hassle of switching streams just to catch every match.

Also it's clear it's also about new teams' exposure.

"given the constraints we're working with — mostly time — we opted for a punchy, cutthroat format. I rather have fans watch hype matches that matter versus teams having the opportunity to play more. That's what I mean by fans > pros/Riot." - His twitter

From what I understand, The hype and the viewership matters more than the actual competition.

I didn't say that they're hiding that they're prioritizing the fanfare and broadcast/viewership while trying to find a compromise and middle ground over the competition, did I?

Check my previous/other comments. I made it clear that I'm well aware over their supposed priorities at this point.

Yeah my bad, I went a bit aggressive there. Sorry. But yeah, basically what Leo said is what's being translated into LOCK//IN

most people already only watch their favorite teams, what audience is getting burnt out? if people who watch every game are already watching vct for 6 hours in a day, i have no doubts that they'll also watch it for 8 hours just as easily.

Imagine waiting 4 months for your favorite team and they'll lose a series on a bad day 😂. I could watch vct 6 hours every day
