It says its possible that KR is getting 3-4 slots but that does not make sense as franchising does not care about subregion and just sees APAC as a whole. If it cared about subregions like KR getting 3-4 slots then other regions like South Asia and Oceania would be guaranteed 1 slots but we know that is just not true.

korea is huge in esports so it makes sense. too many regions to easily spread out teams.
I think china might get 2 slots.

Doesn’t matter if korea is huge in other esports. Korea is obviously not huge in valorant so goving them 4 slots doesn’t maie any sense.

None of these matters if the korean viewership is not high enough. Japan has big orgs as well. Same with SEA, a lot of big succesful mobile orgs. Wake up, Korea is not that far ahead as they were 10 years ago.

I’m not defending Riot giving 3-4 slots, but you’d have to imagine Riot would rather invest in organizations that are keeping their current best game alive over those that are funding the game they are currently trying to sue

I don’t see a corelation tbh. LCK is franchised and the orgs had to pay a buy-in. They are making money by being apart of LoL, it’s not like they are only helping Riot. Also why would you not bring in the orgs that are trying to grow valorant? That doesn’t make sense, especially if they’re good and stable orgs.

Listen, at the end of the day i don’t really care either way, personally i want to see DRX and KT in the league, other then that i don’t care about other korean orgs.

Here's a better explanation.

Suppose the APAC league has 12 teams. The APAC league's initial teams are region dependent; split into the three current regions we have: KR, JP, and APAC. Maybe SA and OCE too.

Out of those 12 slots, 3/4 slots are going to Korea. Another 3 are going to Japan.

The remaining slots will go to a mix of SEA, OCE, and SA.

probably true but kinda unfair for other sea countries, since all the kr and jp orgs just gonna have players from their own country. It's not like kr and japan are playing on a higher level. SEA players have high level players on average but now they have all have to share between multiple countries for slots.

If there's 12 slots it make sense. Since KR org has better financial stability.
3-4 KR / 2 JP / 2 CN / 1 SA / 3-4 SEA should be a good

Cmiiw, last time riot announce franchising for next year apac will include china too right.
If kr 3/4, jp 3 and cn 1/2. That's at least +- 8 already. For apac south get only 4 total. It's just like killing the scene there.

probably not, 6 full kr and jp roster when thai, malay, sing, indo, pinoy, with same level players can fight among themselves for 3 slots ( viet as well when they actually have a scene ). Hopefully, theres a way for unfranchised teams from countries to get out there, if not then that country's scene just gonna die.

Why i think GE is trying for a slot in KR since they r gonna move to korea if they get one. Otherwise more than 2 slots for KR is BS.
