yeah if players thinking about career cs gonna be better option because still no damn crowd (okay it's coming in 2023) but the prize pool of S tier tourneys is so bad like masters prize pool 650k-700k and major 1m it has to be 1m in masters and 2m in major wdy think?

not really, players usually get most of trny winnings, depends on the contracts of each team, and its different. some players get screwed. your comment is really uninformed sorry to say

literally every succesfull T1 Player says Prize money is a nice "bonus" they get paid 30k+ a month do you think they care about 400k split 6 ways ?

#82
Hewcho
0
Frags
+

well in csgo when u win a major u win 1milion and let's say 500k to the org and 100k to each player. It's not small amount right? But in valorant champions the winner only get 350k from a 1m prize pool, the thing riot did was actually to drop a champions bundle and raised total 15milion and only 7.5 milion goes to the teams (all of them) each team gets 468.750 dollars. In csgo there's stickers that orgs earn money from, so the prize pool in tourneys is important i think not for all but masters and champions should have a decent amount of prize pool.

#100
ValulrantLUL
0
Frags
+

you clearly have no idea what you are talking about, 1st Place for the Major is 500k, the ORG usually takes 10-15% and the rest is split 6 ways

there are team and player stickers, teams sticker money obvisoulsy goes to teams and player sticker money to Players, the Sticker money for Players pays 5-10x what the winnings pays, so they really dont care about the prize money

#21
wizardbot
9
Frags

valorant players salaries are same as cs salaries in eu and actually more in na according to ange1. And its way more in japan, kr and apac because cs isnt even relevant there. No one cares about prizepools. If anyone switches to cs again it 'll will be because they like cs more or because of franchising limiting opportunities, not bcos of anything else

#64
symbols07
0
Frags

??? didnt you see riot adding a whole bundle in game to give to the participating teams? it earned like 15 mil and half of it went to champions team, which meant each team had around 500k what prize pool are you talking about. almost all players competing dont care this much about prize pool. and especially if the difference is literally of some few 100k

Interesting if true. Really fucking hype actually. I think its already time for Source 2 and CSGO would get big boost again in social medias and they could try to conquer other like Asian markets with it as well. Would be massive for them and understandably Riot would be concerned.

#16
wizardbot

Frags
+

#8

#25
patuj
-2
Frags
+

What you mean with that? Someone like Tarik would for sure start playing CSGO more if Source 2 came out if the difference was noticeable. Doesn't mean he would leave Valorant scene, but they are competitors. And even now he streamed Masters 2 over CSGO Cologne, but what in 1 year? Which does he prioritie?
And everyone knows Source 2 is coming eventually its just matter of when its happening. And that 100% keeps Riot concerned, because Valve knows Valorant has taken some of their potential playerbase and want it back. When Souce 2 hits its going to be a big thing and is going to effect Valorant in way or another.
And orgs may be less interest in investing if they know Valorant's popularity may take a hit and CSGO may become even bigger than what it is now. Even more worldwide.

#32
wizardbot
3
Frags
+

Tarik has been prioritising Valorant co streams over CS since forever tf are you talking about?

Also monte is saying in the clip that he's hearing that riot is scared and they're rushing with partnerships but then later says that theyre scared that if they dont do contracts fast they'd lose the costreamers but how is costreamers even relevant to contracts signed by esports teams?

#37
patuj
-2
Frags
+

So? I'm not talking about the past when Tarik is Valorant streamer nowadays. Ofc he is going to prioritize Valorant right now plus he averages higher viewercount during those because CSGO doesn't rely on costreams unlike Valorant. Even financely its more worthy to costream Valorant right now over CSGO. But that may very well change if Source 2 brings a lot of new interest towards CSGO. Here's bunch of people who talk how they have never tried CSGO and something like this would be perfect time for these people to try CSGO and some of them would switch. Same happened to CSGO when Valorant came out.

And losing costreamers is bad for the game. Tarik alone has higher amount of viewers during his costreams than Valorant's official channel and decent amount of the costreamers combined. If Valorant esport loses interest then orgs lose interest in investing as well. So obviously Riot would want to lock in some of these big orgs just in case so they don't out of nowhere start focusing on CSGO instead. For example org like 100T could very well try to start conquering CSGO scene if Source 2 was a hit. And that would take away some of their resources from Valorant and social media space. Just example of 1 org.

From what I've learned, Monte and Thorin (and RLewis previously but he's not in the game anymore) are people whose advice/criticism should be almost always taken with a grain of salt and the core message of what they're saying should really be analyzed more than their dramatics that come after it, which is what people tend to hang on to than the core message.

His point that a lot of people are going to go back and play CS once the game releases on Source2? Quite valid. Does it mean that there's suddenly going to be a massive exodus of players like what people were saying about CS when Valorant came out? Unlikely in my opinion. Source2 for CS doesn't mean Valve suddenly overhauls everything in terms of cheaters, ranked ladder quality, the esports ecosystem in NA being in a poor state, etc.

If people play Valorant as their 'main' game, then they'll stick with it. If they want to go back to CS, that's their choice. All I see are people trying to stoke the flames of the CS vs Val argument because they think they've got something to prove when both titles are successful and enjoyable in their own right.

The issue here is that both Valorant and CS are fundamentally very flawed, CS as a game and Valorant as an esport. They have a lot of shit to improve on but have 0 pressure from either community. Because either community is using the opposing game as a scapegoat. You say something bad about CS you are a "valulrante" player. You say something bad about Riot, you're a "cs frog." In the end, both games are suffering.

From my experience (could be biased, not into CSGO much anymore) Valorant is suffering the most from it. I've repeatedly tried criticizing Riot in terms of their eSports management and repeatedly I've had to deal with stubborn people in denial. There's so much shit that is wrong and it shows: from costreams, to formats, to production quality, to bad/uninterested casters, to bad/uninterested players. In the end, the results are staggering: From an average of 800k viewers every international we are down to 280k(!!!!!!!!).

But no, if you point these things out, you're a "cs frog." And Riot gets away with it scott-free, without spending a dime or dropping a single sweat.

#101

You're right, I got confused with peak viewership. But the numbers mason: 1.1m peak 480k average VS 480k peak 280k average. That is a massive dropoff.

I'll tell you all now. This is bullshit.

There isn't a new version of CS coming anytime soon. What's happening is CSGO will be moved to Source 2 Engine. This is not a new game, it's 99% a backend change to move the game onto the most up to date source engine.

It won't look any different, it probably won't even feel different. It most certainly won't be packaged and released as a new game either.

In fact, CSGO will probably get slightly worse (in the short term) due to new bugs associated with being on a new engine while they need to fix things.

We are still many years away from a "new" counterstrike game. If you think the current game running on a cleaner / more up to date engine, is enough to cause an exodus from valorant, you are smoking heroin. It is NOT going to be a new game.

I love CSGO, but those guys are just talking out their asses.

Everyone does know that source 2 doesn't mean shit for CSGO right? The only thing that source 2 does is make different (but similar) calculations on physics, graphics and movement.

CSGO won't magically become a new game with a port to source 2. The only way that source 2 means a huge difference is if volvo decides to MAKE new changes on top of a Source 2 port.

People always seem to think source2 is this magical new thing - it really isn't. You could port csgo 1:1 onto source 2 and only have minor differences due to the way the engine works.
