Yea IK, but in the video he says they’re disbanding coz of “tier two scene and franchising coming next year”

#14

wait, does that mean that franchsing is temporary?

#17

Nah I think they will come back after seeing how franchising impacts the T2 scene and if it is worth it

It's a "test", like Riot is saying, they will see if it works, if improves are needed, they will do (Hope they give a chance to a team take an spot for another team, in this format).

thank you, also do you know how long ago they released their plan of the franchising?

This could destroy the scene outside of the teams that make it in. Franchising is a money grab and that’s morally wrong

#8

Yep, and it literally destroys a somewhat thriving T2 scene (at least in NA)

#16

In every scene tbh, even if riot by some miracle implement an open qualifier thing with like 2 slots, orgs aren’t gonna risk it, every t2 and even t1 teams like PRX (rumour has it they’re not big enough of an org to make it) are just gonna fade away into irrelevancy, and whilst the PRX players will probably get picked up, it’ll leave other hidden talent left to fend for themselves

Cs format is hot, they should use something just like that format to the competitive (improving the fails of this system)

#13

cs sucks ass

#26

Frags

no it's not
valve is an asshole company that doesnt care about its regions but the csgo format is still better and fairer than this franchising/partnership or whatever it is. csgo one would work perfectly in valo because even if riot has defects it would never let any region die like valve did.

but they are doing franchising because all that matters to Riot is viewers and money

I think franchising is fine if there is a relegation/promotion system in which T2 teams can try and qual into the leagues, but the fact that teams are set in place once they are selected is stupid and limits the possibilities.

#22

But the point of franchising is not having relegation/promotion, unfortunately.

This is the worry from most of the fans. Regions that have lot of talents, won't be able to demonstrate them to thwe world, because there is just 3 or 4 teams of the region competing in international events. And it's unlikely they will change the roaster.

#39

hope companies like esl/blast join the scene next year to make international lan events allowing non-partner/non-franchised teams to participate. it would be at least a little flame of hope

#42

Hope they take over the tournaments, because riot sucks, everytime there is some technical issue, or bad decision make by then. It's time to take the tournaments to another level. It's boring to see riot a big company with a bad organization like that. I would love to see a tournament like esl or blast just like in cs go.

It's like an american sports league (mls, nba, nfl etc). You will see the same teams competing against each other

I want understand the people. Everybody saying that the actual format is ridiculous, but now the hate will gone to franchise. lol

I like the format that will be in 2023, I don't like teams who are 'jail' in a bad region, for example LOUD, no have time to prepare for masters, because Brasil region is bad, and only 2 days on Europe to be prepared

With franchise league, maybe, the teams can be more powerful. And I don't think the tier 2 will die, especially on NA, because the community is huge.

A part of this teams will be returned for next years, because the tier 2 will play internacional events too

#24
Depressed_TSM_Fan

I agree but I don’t think this will help the T2 teams since there will be very few teams that even go to international events even if it does happen

#25

And this system will also improve the level from the minor regions, since for example,LOUD will can play all the time with t1 Na teams (specially OPTIC) and them improve, the other 2 or 3 teams from Brazil (that will be in these Franchise sytem) will also have this experience too.

#29
RayzerGH

And also the rivalry from some teams such as OPTIC and LOUD will improve. OPTIC x LOUD will be an "classico" (in Portuguese) at valorant. Such as NIP and Fnatic (Nip probably will be on frachyse for Brazil), that i hope, it happens more times.

This pretty much confirms that Riot are looking for viewership over all. The SR roster has been a consistent top eight roster, the org itself is loaded, and they have one of the best GC teams in the world, yet didn't get the slot.

I know it sounds like a dick thing to say, but considering the 6-7 na teams rumors, I’m glad shopify isn’t getting in. They’re a pretty new org with little to no fanbase as of now. I’d much rather riot value the “clout” of an org rather than how rich the parent company is. After all, the players themselves are good and may find a spot in a team eventually, even if not as a team. Giving a spot to an org like shopify seems like a huge risk when the only thing they have going for them is a top8 team that could maybe even not be as good in 1-2 years

I told everyone from day 1 that teams will start leaving as soon as franchising starts. Soon enough more teams will leave. EMEA teams next

I get that they want to try to grow the LATAM and Brazil scenes, but doing it at the cost of NA is a bad idea. Valorant struck gold by becoming a huge American Esport, but as soon as the next big game comes out, the game is going to die, and some of that is because they're already giving up on NA.
