In this thread, I will note down the stated start time from Riot and note how much later the game actually took place. (all times are EST and start times are based off of Riot start times)

DRX vs Nth: 9:00 - 9:16 (16 minute difference)

LOUD vs KRU: 12:00 - 11:47 (13 minute difference earlier)

OpTic vs Guild: 3:00 - 3:29 (29 minute difference)

Day 1 time wasted - 32 minutes

no its not normal, games should start on time, maximum 5 minutes later. sure for second or third games, but the first game of the day NEEDS to be on point

bro optic match got delayed bc of how long kru and loud match took, so u put a 29 minute difference, bc it was supposed to start at 3. But drx vs northeption ended earlier so technically loud vs kru started 13m earlier.

after each match ended, VLR gave an estimated start time for the next match and i went off of that.

VLR just estimates whenever the match will start - it's not a good data collection system outside of the first match. They just round it to the nearest 5/15/30 minute interval

then I wouldn't consider it time "wasted" per se - mostly because games ALWAYS finish later than their time

i mean, they always go on about random shit before the matches or in between maps that cause the games to go on later than they should. imo, they should go over all the analytical stuff in the preshow, start showing maps a few mins before start time, and agent select at start time. for some regions, like APAC, the schedule is very harsh for them and these delays make it much worse.

Its the problem with esports cause matches dont last a set amount of time so we cant complain cause its in the structure of the sport. One day could finish before the second match was scheduled another could finish 4 hours late

when you look into it, the games start late because of the analyst desk repeating stuff they've already said in the pre-show and it stalls the map picks/bans and the agent select.

in Europe, the games frequently start 5 mins late MAX

in NA, the games almost always start between 15 and 20 mins AFTER the set start time.

so no, it's not built into the structure, and it's annoying.

For some of these, I don’t think it’s fair to consider all of the time to be wasted. A good example is the most recent matches, FNC v LEV and DRX v FPX. Yes, DRX v FPX did start at 3:30 when it was scheduled for 2:00, but that does not mean that nothing happened during those 90 minutes since the FNC v LEV match was still going until 2:45.

I'm just basing it off the given start times
Every single time, there is a delay between the first match of the day and the said start time for that match. That obviously causes delays. Also, there is a LOT of time wasted between maps other than the normal break time but I really don't feel like calculating all of that and there are no set start times for each map.

U can't hate the delay on 2nd and 3rd game. Its cuz that the game before didn't ended. We all agree that it's better to start the game later cuz other is played then waiting for no reason cuz the game before was fast. But yeah on first games it sucks

The official start time of the 2nd and 3rd game is always after the previous game. so only the difference for the first game is good info so on average the game starts 15 min later.
