Riot wants organisations with stable cashflows and ambitions to compete at the highest level, signing a promising roster like LG and having the money is enough for a franchising spot.

is it not enough for the other 10+ orgs who have that too and have a bigger fan base as well?

That's the same for Guard and V1, and even those teams I wouldn't call lock ins for franchising compared to Optic, 100T, Sen, Cloud9, TSM. And then you already have 5/6 spots, with the others going to SA

Guard is more likely than TSM or Sen

TSM is a lock for how big they are in the esports industry, Sen not as much but TenZ is the face of Valorant. You can't have a league without Sen in it. The viewership would be shit.

even if this is true, the whole point of franchising is consolidating strong players and weeding out all the weak ones.

tenz still has potential, no doubt in my mind if SEN don’t make franchising he gets picked up somewhere else

I don't think Sen the org will make it, but I guarantee you tenz will be picked up because he's a clout machine.

Shopify is worth more than any org in north america or probably in the game and the current moment. They have a solid game changers team and good financial backing. Now that they have a top roster in NA it is very likely that they get in

Most leaks say that the financial backing won't be the deciding factor, and the brand and fan base of the orgs will be way more important. There's a reason why Riot will be giving the spots for free and will be paying dividens

SR is probably one of the richest esports orgs in valorant and maybe the world, i mean their parent company shopify has earned like 1.2 billion in 3 months alone this year

no shot tbh unless they make a miracle run in lcq and champs and gain a massive following

Idk If they can get Franchised spot next year or nah, IF not maybe they still can sell ex-LG players (or whole roster) to franchised orgs for profit

yo fr who is Shopify Rebellion though? I'm aware they have a GC team, but other than that, never heard of them. Do they have good sponsors? Are they a big org at all?

Shopify Rebellion is an org made by an e-commerce site called shopify, so their financials are pretty good. Their esports are pretty small time, as you said they had a GC roster, and they also have a Starcraft 2, Rocket League and Halo roster that are all pretty mediocre, this signing is probably their most significant and is probably going to be their flagship roster, and val will be their flagship game with a top 8 NA team and top 8 GC team
